The year is somehow already coming to an end 😳⌛️
2023 has flown by! It's already been a full year since I last did a PlayStation Wrap-Up blog. I expected 2023 to be the most hours I've spent gaming since I started doing these yearly reports on my blog. I was somehow incorrect with that assumption. Although this isn't the most time I've spent gaming in a year, I still spent quite a bit of time doing so. Let's dive into my stats for the past year.
This is pretty crazy! 147 is a lot of different games. I have to blame this on the fact that I've had PS Plus Extra and access to dozens upon dozens of free games. Some of them I loved and others I only played for less than an hour.
842 hours translates to about 35 days of playtime. That's almost 10% of the entire year I spent gaming. That just goes to show you how much I do love playing games. It's something I grew up doing and even as an adult, I still have a passion for it.
I used to be obsessed with collecting achievements on Xbox and when I switched over to PlayStation with the launch of the PS4, I felt so far behind on trophy collection. I never took it seriously until a few years ago. This past year though, I kind of stopped worrying about it again. As you can see, I only got one platinum trophy all year long. I can't even tell you which game I did it with either. It is cool to see that I finally made it into the 300s for trophy level which I guess means I'm finally silver. If I could combine my Xbox and PlayStation history, I have a feeling I'd be gold already.
I never in a million years thought that Fortnite would be my most-played game of the year. I hated this game when I first played it. Ever since they introduced Zero Builds, I've enjoyed it a lot. Nearly a quarter of my gaming time in the past year was spent with Fortnite.
I expected most of these games to be in my top 5. Fortnite of course. Call of Duty MWII and MWIII are combined into one game, so I knew it'd be up there. The Crew Motorfest and Gran Turismo 7 are two of the most fun racing games I've ever played in my life. Then Hogwarts Legacy since it is the most played of my Black Friday pick-ups.
If I had to select only one genre of games to ever be able to play again, it would without a doubt be shooters. These are games that usually have infinite replayability to me. My current favorites are The Finals, Fortnite, Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Overwatch. I expect The Finals to be in my top 5 next year and most likely XDefiant once it finally comes out.
The reason I spent so much time playing Fortnite is that for a moment, I had a group of friends to play with. It had been so many years since I last had a group of people that I played with daily. Part of me missed it. That's why when I met a girl who loved Fortnite and only played in groups, I was all about it for a few months. Ultimately that relationship didn't work out for various reasons, so now I'm back to having nobody to play with besides some occasional times with my brother or perhaps the old buddy @raizel. The year comes to a close and I can say that 2023 was one of the best years in gaming history. There are so many great games in existence. If you can't find something to play, then you must just not like gaming. I am overwhelmed with options right now and I have a hard time making room for all of the games in my library.

@daltono Yeah for sure man, we should play some games again. Unfortunately this year hasn't been the best for me. I haven't really been active on hive do to life stuff. Hopefully next year will be better.
I feel you on that bro. 2023 hasn’t been great in some ways. For me I just feel like I’ve been penny pinching the whole year bc of HIVE still being down. Next year is going to be better soon man. We just gotta stay positive.
Close to two hours of gaming every day that's a lot of gaming, I didn't know PS had that many metrics it could tell you how much time you spend trying to align shots, that's insane I bed they can tell every telemetry from the remote, Sir you are getting every penny out of your PS5 that a certainty 👍😎
When you look at it that way, yes that's certainly a lot. I took many days off in favor of other days having much more than just two hours. PlayStation knows EVERYTHING 👁️
Although I think the part about aligning shots is just a figure of speech and not necessary literally exactly how much I was aiming.
