SAND LAND is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by the late and great Akira Toriyama. You may also know him as being the creator of Dragon Ball.
I recently stumbled upon a free demo for the recently released SAND LAND video game.
SAND LAND's story is set in a post-apocalyptic world where water is scarce, and a demon king controls what little remains. The narrative follows Sheriff Rao, a humanoid lizard, and Beelzebub, a demon, as they embark on a journey to uncover a new water source hidden deep underground. Along the way, they face various challenges, encounters with unique characters, and ultimately strive to bring hope and prosperity back to their arid world. The manga blends action, adventure, and humor, characteristic of Toriyama's storytelling style, creating an engaging and imaginative tale of survival and friendship in a harsh desert landscape.
The SAND LAND video game is an action-adventure RPG set in the same world as the manga. You play as one of the Fiend Prince Beelzebub and use your tact and imagination to build incredible vehicles to explore a ruthless desert world & beyond. Your main mission is to search for The Legendary Spring to bring water back to Sand Land! On the way, you are bound to discover a plethora of unique and dangerous things.
Vehicles are one of the main aspects of this unique title. You will unlock vehicles that can be leveled up with various mechanic parts including weapons, engines, and suspensions. Prepare to design and operate a large variety of vehicles including Battle Tanks with powerful cannons, Motorbikes that speed through deserts, and Jump-bots that bounce over rivers to explore every corner of the continent.
Another important aspect of the game is the development of your base camp in the city of Spino, as you build relationships with its inhabitants. As you bring the exiled people of the desert to Spino, watch the town and its capabilities grow. Listen to their requests and wishes, and unlock useful materials and city features.
Now let's jump into the gameplay portion of SAND LAND. I had no idea what to expect with this game going in, as this was my first time ever hearing of SAND LAND. Together we will travel through SAND LAND and its canyons, unveil its secrets, overcome obstacles, and find the entrance to an unknown world.
