Back into the Overgrown Ruins 🌿
After finally making it to the Crimson Wastes for the first time following my win over Phrike, I of course died. This means I still have to start over at the beginning in the Overgrown Ruins. Luckily it is not as bad as I was thinking.
Since I defeated the first boss and opened the portal to the Crimson Wastes, the portal actually stays open and I do not have to fight Phrike anymore. I still have to navigate the procedurally generated map and locate the portal back to Crimson Wastes during each cycle, but that doesn't sound too bad.
Sometimes the portal may show up early, other times it may take some time to locate it. I feel like the game has added some harder enemies that haven't shown up in the Overgrown Ruins until after I had gone to the Crimson Wastes. It is either that, or I just was not warmed up enough when starting my ninth cycle, because I was not even able to make it to the portal without dying.
Just when I thought I had gotten the hang of things in Returnal, I was smacked in the face once again to snap back into the reality that this is one of the hardest games I've played in quite some time. A little bit of tough love like this is needed, I will understand what is happening on this planet Atropos eventually.

This game is amazing! Graphs are top notch and the whole world building is really nice but it also looks hard af haha. Great video btw!
It is pretty insane. It is even better so long after the initial launch too. A lot of quality of life improvements. Now would be the best time to play it, as long as you are lucky enough to have secured a PS5.

If I were a parasite, I would want to be named something cool like that too. Why not right?
