Animal Crossing

About a week or so ago, I bought Animal Crossing for my Nintendo Switch. I had been on the fence about purchasing a game of this type because it is something that is a completely different type of game that I normally play. But after much reading, watching YouTube videos about the game, and figuring out what was involved with this game, I decided I would go ahead and make the purchase.

You start off the game by being sent to your own little island with a few other NPC villagers. You are tasked with setting up your home, which at first is a little tent.
Your first day is spent going around collecting different materials for island upgrades, building the beginner set of tool and just learning how to play the game.
Once you are done with the first actual day of playing, the time in the game syncs to the clock within your Switch and it begins to play out in real time. So if you are playing in the middle of the day, it is the middle of the day in the game. This is an interesting feature because there are a lot of creatures that you can catch that only come out during certain times of the day, and I am assuming that they will even be adding creatures that come out during certain times of the year.
One of the biggest things that I like so far about the game is that it is a mindless time sink that you can pick up, play for however long you want, and turn it off. There are always projects that need materials and you need them for building as well.

Sometimes when you are collecting materials from trees a swarm of wasps will pop out and sting you. You will need to get some medicine to take care of that sting because if you get stung again, your person will faint, then awaken back at your house. You don't lose any items or anything, but your person looks dumb with a swollen eye until you craft some medicine and take it.

After a while, you can take out a loan for a house and then start working on paying that loan off. My house is pretty small right now, but I am working on paying off my first expansion.

Ya, I know, my house is pretty awesome, but I need to get a real bed and stop sleeping on the cot from the tent. As you play, you find or unlock new recipes for crafting, so you can make some pretty cool things for your island.

Out of all the buildings I have so far, the museum is my favorite. This is where all of the crap you find on the island or the other islands you visit are stored. The developers have done a pretty awesome job on making you want to keep finding more bugs, fish or fossils to put in your museum.

There are little indicators on the ground that you have to look out for that let you know that something is underground and to dig. Sometimes it is a rock, some money, or fossils that you can have evaluated and then donate to your museum.

This is my T-Rex I am in the process of getting all the fossil pieces for. Ya, I know, it is pretty awesome and it's ok to be jealous.

I spend a lot of time running around my island trying to keep the weeds under control. I picked weeds on a whole section of my island because they had grown to be about as tall as my character. That's what I get for not weeding in like 4 days. When you are weeding, it is a good chance to have your net out to catch bugs too cause sometimes they run out of the weeds after you pick them.

That's how I caught this tiger beetle so I can add it to my collection in the museum.

What is that you say?? You thought the museum was for just fossils? Oh no, I have a pretty extensive bug collection too. This is my butterfly room where I can just sit on the bench and watch the butterflies fly around the fountain.

For all of you fisherman, don't worry, Animal Crossing has you covered as well. There are plenty of fishing opportunities in the game where you can travel around the different islands and catch all sorts of fish so you can display them in the many different fish tanks in the museum.

One of the cool things about the game is the ability to visit your friend's islands as well. You can share materials, trade things, or just hang out on the stuff that you have built.
Too bad I didn't have any friends that were playing, so I wasn't able to go visit anyone.
That was until yesterday. I bought my daughter Nintendo Switch and the Animal Crossing game too, so we can both play together and visit each other's islands.
She is just on her second day on the island, so she hasn't unlocked the travel ability yet, so we haven't been able to go to each other's islands yet, but when we can, it is going to be a lot of fun. We are going to be able to help each other and build cool things for each other.
Anyways, there is a ton of stuff to do in Animal Crossing and I am just scratching the surface so far with what I have been able to do. I don't even have streets yet. I have seen some videos where people have massive islands with a ton of different NPC villagers and all sorts of customized stuff on their island. I just wonder how much time they have put into the game so far because I have played a couple hours a day and I still really haven't done anything.
Like I said at the beginning of this post, this is the perfect game to play right now during the quarantine because there really isn't an end to it and there is a ton of stuff to do. This game couldn't have been released at a better time for Nintendo.
I am the best video game reviewer on the internet, so I am going to review this now.

Thank you. It is much appreciated
My wife has been playing this non stop. It’s a quarantine essential.
I agree. It is the perfect game right now when you have time to kill.
Putting that unemployment to good use.
Looks like a much better SIMS in both gameplay and story!
I tried SIMS when it first came out and i hated that game, lol. This is much better.
Our kids and grandkids have got into his and are loving it, them talking about it reminded me I had the DS new leaf versions nd the ds in a draw so I gave that to my wife and she is loving the game, I can see having to buy a switch and or a switch lite to let her move up to this game if or when the consoles come available
You should. I bet she would have a great time playing it.
now she is second guessing whether she wants one, when they become available again I may order one and try it if she doesn't like it I can always use it lOL
I'm in constant pain reading people's posts about this game.
I was foolish. I had bought Wii U when it came out, as I wanted to be with the "newest generation". Then Wii U was a flop and was replaced by Switch quickly.
I wish I had waited. I could own a Switch too, but I don't.
I really like the Switch. I had bought one on launch day and had it for a while, but then sold it to buy crypto. I just recently bought the Switch Lite, which I like and prefer over the original version. I didn't play much on the TV, so the Lite works best for me.
Man, I haven't played any of the Animal Crossing games before but I do want AC:NH. I'm just not in the right place financially (been unemployed for over half a year now! :/). The AC themed Switch is so cute too, wish I had that one instead of the common red-and-blue Joy-con Switch.
Glad you and your daughter are enjoying the game, it looks so cute and fun!
I have been keeping an eye out for the Animal Crossing themed Switches. I have been thinking about buying some and then selling them on Ebay. I hope that you get a chance to play this game. It is a lot of fun.

I wouldn't normally go for a game that looks cartoonish but this looks like fun. The little characters are so cute and I'm sure there's a whole lot to do
Ya, this isn't my normal type of game either, but there is a ton of stuff to do and it kills time like no other game I have played.
I have to say the graphics are really very chic, I like it a lot. Otherwise this will probably never be the kind of game that I really like. But you have fun ;)
It is a lot of fun. Gotta go shake some trees now and pick up sticks.
