Mega Froslass ex & New N Cards From Upcoming Mega Dream ex Pokemon Set

in Hive Gaming25 days ago

It has been announced that there are new Pokemon from the upcoming special set Mega Dream ex. This set releases in Japan on November 28, 2025 and the English set releases on January 30, 2026.

Mega Dream ex in 2026 will be like 2025's Prismatic Evolutions. There are reprints are previous sets along with new cards.

Snorunt + Mega Froslass ex

The new Snorunt is okay as this one has 70HP instead of 60 HP from the old versions.

Mega Froslass ex is very interesting. We finally have a good Water attacker that can combat Fire types if Fire based decks get too popular.

The second attack of Absolute Snow requires one Water Energy and 2 Colourless Energy. It does 150 damage plus makes the opponent's Active Pokemon Asleep.

Rebellion is the first attack. This requires just one Water Energy to deal 50 damage for each card in your opponent's hand. If the opponent has something like 7 cards in hand then this attack does 350 damage.

I don't know if you build a deck around Mega Froslass ex. You could add it as an extra attacking option in Froslass + Munkidori decks or in Marnie's Grimmsnarl ex decks.

As good as the first attack is, the opponent could try to play around Mega Froslass ex. If they see a Snorunt, they could target it with something like Boss's Orders. Alternatively the opponent could try to reduce their hand size to avoid large attacks from Mega Froslass ex.

N's Vanillite & N's Vanillish

One surprise from the Mega Dream ex set is the return of Owner's Pokemon. Owner's Pokemon was seen in Journey Together and in Destined Rivals only in 2025.

N's Vanillite is not a great attacker but the Call For Family attack is good for early game setup. Search your deck for 2 Basic Pokemon and put them onto your Bench.

N's Vanillish could be okay in a N's Zoroark ex deck. The Sheer Cold attack can be copied to deal 60 damage and make the Defending Pokemon not attack during the opponent's next turn.

N's Vanilluxe

N's Vanilluxe is the final Stage 2 evolution of N's Vanillite.

Layered Snow doubles the amount of damage counters that are on your opponent's Pokemon. This sounds like a good attack but I think it is hard to make good use of this attack.

Blizzard requires one Water Energy and 2 Colourless Energy to deal 120 damage and 10 damage to each of your opponent's Benched Pokemon. I don't think this attacker is good. Too much work to get this into play and the attacks are not worth the effort.

Snom & Frosmoth

Snom is not a great attacker as the HP is low. You need this for Frosmoth.

Frosmoth is an okay attacker. For 2 Water Energy to deal 90 damage and move 1 Water Energy from Frosmoth to one of your Benched Pokemon.

The Inviting Wings ability can be used once during your turn. Both players draw 1 card. This goes well with Mega Froslass ex. I don't know if it is worth the deck space with Mega Froslass ex.

N's Zekrom

The return of Owner's Pokemon is surprising but this release of N's Zekrom has a good handful of players going crazy. N's Zoroark has additional attacking options. Slowking decks can use this too.

N's Zekrom would not be used outright as the Energy costs are too much. N's Zoroark ex would be used to copy one N's Benched Pokemon attack. The Rampaging Thunder attack deals a godo 250 damage with the drawback of not being able to attack next turn. This drawback is not too bad as you can use something like Pecharunt ex + Yvetal then retreat back to the same N's Zoroark and attack for 250 damage again.

N's Zoroark ex decks don't have to solely rely on N's Reshiram for big attacks. This new N's Zekrom provides additional attacking options.

The Shred attack of 70 damage is not much but it goes through wall effects from stuff like Mimikyu, Crustle and Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex.

Anthea & Concordia

If there is ever a Yugioh Exodia type of card in the Pokemon TCG game then this it.

This Anthea & Concordia Supporter card can only be played if you have these six Pokemon in play.

  • N's Zoroark ex
  • N's Darmanitan
  • N's Reshiram
  • N's Zekrom (new)
  • N's Klinklang
  • N's Vanilluxe (new)

Getting these 6 Pokemon in play is difficult because of the 2 Stage 2 Pokemon of N's Klinklang and N's Vanilluxe.

During this turn, if your opponent's Active Pokemon is Knocked Out by damage from an attack from 1 of your N's Pokemon, you take an extra 3 Prize Cards. This effect is not exactly a Yugioh Exodia type of effect where you win if all 5 Exodia pieces are in your hand. You have to knock out a Mega Pokemon for 3 Prize cards + a bonus 3 Prize cards from this card for the win.

Some people will try to make a (meme) deck around this Supporter card work. I think this type of deck strategy will be very inconsistent.

Thank you for reading.
