Old Man Yells at Clouds – The Twitter Reactions to Peach from the new Mario Trailer

All of you are stupid.

….Okay I'll not just end this post there. There are two extreme viewpoints on this trailer, both of which seem to be coming from people who are terminally involved in some kind of culture war. I would say terminally online, but I know plenty of terminally online people who think this stuff gets out of hand, it's people who are looking for anything and everything they can to try and demonize the sides they don't agree with.

On one hand, people are talking about how Peach has gone full-on 'Woke Girl boss', an actual thing a person said. Since as early as Super Mario RPG, Peach has been shown as someone who can fight to some degree. Yes, it varies from game to game, but she hasn't been someone who will just sit back and let everyone else do all the fighting for her for the majority of the time Mario has been a thing. And Mario has always been kind of bumbling. These depictions aren't entirely out of the realm of things we've seen in the past.

Then there is 'Oh my god they finally gave Peach a Personality'. This is an equally stupid take. It's the same people who probably looked at the game where Peach was the lead character and claimed the game was nothing but a big joke about how emotional women are during their periods. Mind you, the entire point is Peach was very much in control of her emotions, which was the whole point of the game, meaning that criticism made no sense, to begin with. Peach has had the personality for, once again, at least since Super Mario RPG. These are people who are just looking for anything to 'Dunk' on their political opposition and to try to gain some semblance of relevance.

There are only two things to do now, and the first is to wait and see how it comes out. Sure, maybe the movie will go full-on 'Hollywood Woke' and both sides of the aisle can sit there and bask in the glory of how right they turned out to be. Or, what I think will be the most likely occurrence, we'll have a movie that is either good or shit (So far I am leaning good), and we'll all move on with our lives like none of this nonsense ever happened.

And the second is that I think it's time we all acknowledge, and I say this without any intent in the obvious innuendo, any lady looks 20% better when wielding a pole arm.

pffffff

I think that title and thumbnail really sum up the whole situation; really silly that there are people complaining about this when it is a quite fun idea (which changes up the usual princess somehow being a damsel in distress) AND also has done stuff on her own in games like Paper Mario, Super Mario RPG (you can FIGHT as her) and even Smash Bros
