The best part is a lot of the meshes they used for cliffs and stuff where from Quixel that were 3D scans of objects. I would not be shocked if they modified them a fair amount in Quixel Mixer or some other program as well. This means an indie developer with a fair amount of skill could pull off something similar without a massive budget. That is just exciting!

You will not be able to tell the difference between a video game and a movie

I’m not sure how wide spread Quixel is used in the movie industry but they do get used there as well. So this would be closing that gap quite quickly.

Even more so if the team gets a lot of funding to go out 3D scanning. Recent events have caused them to cancel some major scan trips they had planned. They joked a couple weeks back they will have to start scanning objects in their own backyards in the short term.
