It turns out making a map in Rising World is a bit involved. I also could not ignore for much longer not exploring that cave right next to me. It was time to make some progress on both fronts.
During the day, I went around exploring the island. I was one bit further. I was mostly after collecting wool. As I'd need it to turn into a thread. For that, I'd have to build a spinning wheel as well.

Out of my crafting experience so far in Rising World. Using the spinning wheel would be one of the slower stations to use. You have to spin it long enough until you have a full bundle. Then collect it. Then start again.
It was perhaps a good thing I ended up saving doing this activity during the nighttime. While I ended up making around 30 units. That would not end up lasting last. If I wanted to make rope later on it that alone would take quite a few. This was going to be one of those things early on, where anytime I noticed a sheep, I'd run over to it to shear it.
I just assumed in the process, next up I'd need a loom. So, I built that next. Turns out the loom is only needed for things like crafting clothing. Everything else, you can just use the normal crafting station.
This is perhaps when I found one of the more interesting activities to do as far as crafting goes. I still did not have what was needed to use the paper press. As it turns out, that requires rags. How on earth do I get rags?
It’s a bit crazy, I needed to build a massive grinder that I'd have to walk around in a circle pushing. Just to grind things up in it. It’s also how I got some of the rags I needed. This is going to be one of the things I've decided to leave outdoors after I've built a house.
I ended up having some fun seeing what else I could toss into this to grind up. I have a feeling I'll be needing this again at some point. As you can bake bread, among other things. I suppose it was good to just have this crafting station for future uses.
It was then time to make some paper. I put the rags into the machine. I then turned the crank to lower and raise it again. Getting up to four sheets per run. I had no idea I'd be making so many machines just so I could get paper and make a map.
While I had been doing a decent job at exploring around my local area. Having a map was going to ensure I no longer needed to worry about getting lost. Even better, when I realize it’s getting close to nighttime, I'll be able to find the quickest path back home. No longer wondering in the dark if I end up staying out too long. At the very least, I had a giant bonfire going, ensuring that if I could get a line of sight on it, I'd know where home was.
The map also shows the entire world. Not sure what areas you have explored. It seems for now I'm stuck in the middle of an island. The map also seems to hint at there being an Arctic and a Desert. Beyond that, I have no idea.
It also became quite clear that if I wanted to get anywhere, I'd need to build a boat for that. At this point, I'm just going to assume I'm going to be needing wood, iron, and wool for such things. I have a tiny rowboat-looking thing unlocked in the crafting bench. Many undiscovered transportation options remain.
Since I really don’t want to go out on a tiny boat if there are better options from the resources on the current island I'm on. Along with expecting I'd need better tools, weapons, and clothing. Along with supplies to go on a bit of a journey. It seems reasonable that this is not something I’m going to get finished with before having some kind of house.
So, I ended up crafting up some torches and standing torches. That cave next to me had been whispering long enough for me to go into it. While this would not be my first time down there. It did not take long to realize I needed to bring some sources of light to get anywhere.
The plan was to find iron. I also wanted to leave a trail of torches to find my way out. As it would turn out, torches don’t give off a lot of light. So, I found myself not making it far enough in the cave to find iron before I was just down to my hand-held torch. I’d need more resources to make quite a few standing torches to get anywhere.
I later returned this time with a few torches. I also found my first iron vein. There was not a lot in it. I, however, still had the basic forge, and it would take a while to smelt down everything I was able to gather from that run.
I also ended up finding small amounts of coal. I decided for now to save the coal until I know for sure it’s not used for something more important than just fueling forages and other things. As wood logs were doing more than a fine enough job as it was.
Later on, I'd end up finding a much bigger iron vein to mine out. Allowing me to now have hundreds of iron ores that need to be smelted down. That, however, felt like it would take forever with the basic forge. While there were two other options, I went for the biggest, as why not at this point? It would just require more stone and iron than the smaller, medium-sized one.
As you can see, this new forge holds an insane amount of ore. I’m glad this was not an upgrade I waited around to get. They cook the ore in around the same amount of time. I’d soon have hundreds of iron bars and have no idea what I'd be using them for.
I ended up going on a bit of a crafting spree. Making iron tools, a two-handed sword, and some other stuff as well. All things I felt I'd be needing when I leave the island to go explore the rest of the world.
Final Thoughts

Despite having more iron than I knew what to do with at this point. During the nights or heavy rains, I now found myself heading down into the caves. I even found a bit of a fork and ended up dropping two troches to indicate the right path to go out where I came in from.
While the number of resources I've found has kept me from fully exploring one of the tunnels that seems to be slowly going back up, possibly to the surface. I’m kind of hoping the cave is a network that connects to other areas above ground. Only time will tell. For now, I'm too busy hoarding every single scrap of iron ore I can get my hands on.
At some point, I'll need to venture further as well. There are other types of ores in the game. I have no idea if they can be found on the island I'm on, or if I need to go into the other biodomes to find something else. All I know for now is I have enough iron to last me for quite a long time.

NGL, for a second I thought this was The Forest! This is the first time I'm hearing of Rising World! I might check it out later!
For a moment I could almost see it. The Forest was one of those games I was hoping I'd like a lot more then I did.

It is.
