In my opinion, it works like this: we pre-order until we're disappointed. I was already disappointed with CP2077 and Doom TDA. Luckily, I didn't buy them, but I was really tempted. Btw. Good choice :)
One of the reasons why I pre-ordered this time is because I fear that I am likely spoil the game for myself by watching some let's play if I will not be able to play it myself immediately. Of course I could just keep some money to buy it once it will be released... But if I have any spare money I am tempted to either buy HP with it or play some blackjack at Hiveslotgamages. So there was no guarantee that I will have enough once the game will be released.
I understand this approach; I feel the same way when there's a title that's very important to me. Admittedly, I don't remember the last time I bought one, but when it comes to movies/anime, I do. I don't like it when someone else's thoughts about a product I'm looking forward to are in my head before I even start it.
