dCrops - A new farmers first look.

Well my weekend has come and gone, and I am proud to tell you that I am a brand new dCrops farmer! 👨‍🌾

I decided to start out with one card pack and dip my toes into dCrops, and let me tell you I am glad that I did.

On my first pack I pulled a legendary bell pepper that is a seed that is able to be planted only in the winter season. (Luckily in dCrops the current season is winter 😁)

So I open my pack and I get my legendary bell pepper, a fertile land, two wheat seeds, and a pea seed. I plant my bell pepper and pea in my fertile land and see how long it will take to harvest. The first one that will be ready to harvest is my bell pepper, which only takes two days, while my peas take four.

The first two days go by pretty well; I check a few times a day as if the act of looking at my plants will force them to grow faster (Spoiler Alert: It did not make them grow any faster 🤷‍♀)

But then I harvested my bell peppers.

My overall haul was five bell peppers (which the seed's card will tell you before hand, along with other stats)

Being a new farmer I assumed that now that I have harvested my bell pepper that my card would be gone and used up, however I was incorrect. The seed's card simply goes on cooldown for 14 days starting from the initial planting time.

After figuring this out I went to look at my farm and take a look at my peas, but I noticed that my bell pepper was still planted. Again, being a new farmer, I did not understand how the bell peppers that I just harvested were still planted.

I thought maybe it was a glitch or a bug so I reloaded my web page and what did I see? It was still there.

This was a bit confusing because the card was still on cooldown and I had five bell peppers in my inventory, so I looked a little more closely at my card only to find out that this card had a special ability where it will keep producing until the end of the season! 😎

After my realization that there is far more to dCrops than first meets the eye I dug through the FAQ and read everything in the WIKI, leading me down a rabbit hole that inevitably ended in me grabbing up another card pack, giving my tiny little farm another wheat seed, another pea seed, another fertile land, and two cauliflower seeds.

Well in that instant I planted my new peas and have checked the time left to harvest a little too many times knowing fully well that I still have a couple days left until I can harvest them.

This is the humble beginning to Finch97 Farm, the newest farm on dCrops, and over the next few weeks I intend to expand my farm, sell my harvest for shares, (The in game way to place yourself on the leaderboard to earn CROP token in the end of season reward) and spend much more time watching the seconds tick down on my time left to harvest.

A few things to note and general information about dCrops:

  • dCrops is based on the beforementioned CROP token, which you earn in the end of the season rewards, and you can use your CROP to buy packs, buy more NFT card packs, or withdraw to your wallet.

  • Each season lasts for 15 days, and the game is on a standard four season cycle. (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) With different seed for each season.

  • Cards can have special abilities, (as I found out with my bell pepper) either being able to keep producing until the season ends or having a 25% chance to get multiple crops per harvest.

  • In the picture above of the five bell peppers that I harvested you may have noticed that there are stars on each of them. You have a chance to harvest between one to three star crops, where the more stars you have the more shares you can sell them for.

  • Each card pack is $2.00 with special offers if you buy the bundle of 100 or 500. So why not spend a couple of bucks to get into this amazing gem of a game?

In the news feed their are plans for the future such as quests which I am quite excited to learn more about.

dCrops has a discord server that I have just joined before posting this, and honestly I am looking forward to read through the rooms and to chat with my new community of dCrops farmers.

Some final thoughts:

I have just brushed the surface about dCrops, but the bottom line is it is a simple game to destress. There is something joyfully about dCrops having such simple, yet deep, gameplay. The future for this game looks bright and you can join in right now while this game is still in Alpha.

This is my affiliate link for dCrops. The affiliate program is an incentive to help the game grow by giving the affiliate a 5% commission when referred users buy card packs.

I appreciate everybody that has read this far and truly hope that you will start playing dCrops, or if you have been playing leave a comment about some the super secret tips you have. 😇

Thank you - @finch97

dCrops is quite cool and I think it will only get better. There's quests and stuff planned for the foreseeable future. I bought 20 packs a little while ago but I want more. Mostly because I have to many land plots in comparison to seeds. MOAR PACKS.

After my realization that there is far more to dCrops than first meets the eye I dug through the FAQ and read everything in the WIKI, leading me down a rabbit hole that inevitably ended in me grabbing up another card pack,

I can relate to this one - after having a grasp on the game I ended up buying additional packs. Still I am eyeing to get more alpha packs in the future.

On my first pack I pulled a legendary bell pepper that is a seed that is able to be planted only in the winter season.

You are lucky man! I bought one in the marketplace at 35 Hive 😀. When I bought it and realized that I should have just spend it on alpha packs for a chance to get other cards I just facepalmed myself. Welp, we all learn from mistakes and reading thoroughly haha!

This game seems more detailed than I would've imagined, I was expecting something like Zynga's Farmville. Do the crops deteriorate if you don't do anything with them or are they something in your inventory forever? if you could give further details either on here or in your next post I would appreciate it. Happy Gaming! Hope your crops suc'seed'!

I have not finished my first full season but from what I have read in the FAQ the crops should stay in your inventory for as long as you save them. The crop cards themselves (the seeds) will not deteriorate after you harvest them. From the time you plant them initially they will start a 14 day cool down period where you can not plant them again until the cool down time has completed. I will be doing an update after the Winter season ends on dCrops. Thank you for your interest in my initial post!
