Star Wars is perhaps one of the biggest franchises and sagas of the film industry, not only innovated in its time with special effects, but also the way in which to tell a space story, full of epicness, action, adventure and even comedy. The movies of this saga are to my liking, they are not even close to my favorites, however the first trilogy, which is the classic one I like quite a lot, the second trilogy I think they are decent but I am not such a diehard fan of this saga, then I tried to watch the most recent trilogy but I didn't like it at all, the only recent product of the Star Wars saga that I liked is the first season of The Mandalorian, although after watching that first season I have lost track of that series and now I don't know if new seasons have been released. But leaving that aside, Star Wars is huge and maybe nowadays it is not what it was in its time, it certainly left a legacy worth admiring, so it is not surprising that video games were made based on the movies, in fact, there have been many video games based on that universe and today I will talk about a Star Wars game made for the old Super Nintendo.

Super Star Wars is basically an adaptation of the first movie, it has the facts of the movie almost in the same way, but with their respective differences to be adapted to a video game, so there will be sequences and moments that were not in the movie, but in general terms it is a good adaptation of the most memorable moments of the first movie. This is a game whose graphic aspect manages to emulate quite well what can be seen in the movie, from scenarios, decorative elements, enemies and main characters, were developed and designed in such a way that with just a small observation we can realize that we are facing a game based on Star Wars. This is a game that stands out for its visual effects, explosions, lights, all these aspects were created with great care, not for nothing is a game made by LucasArts and connoisseurs of the subject, know that this game developer, in his prime created many spectacular games. One of the best aspects in terms of graphics are its scenarios, they are very varied, recreating the most emblematic locations of the film so faithfully that it is impressive, even for a game as old as this one is.

The character design is spectacular, they have an adequate size for a game of this style, but the variety of character sprite sizes will vary, being able to find characters with large sizes, other relatively small and other huge and still do not lose their great quality of work in the design. Undoubtedly, one of the best aspects of this game in its soundtrack and I think this is not something to be surprised, as it is known that the Star Wars saga has one of the best soundtracks in the history of cinema, so it was quite logical that this game had a soundtrack that could pay tribute to the movies, we can hear at least the vast majority of the classic themes of the first film adapted to the ship of the Super Nintendo and despite its clear and logical limitations, the composers in charge of the soundtrack of this game managed to create something worthy of listening and worthy of being an adaptation of the original melodies.

Super Star Wars is basically and most of the time an action and platform game, although in some moments there will be some driving sections, where depending on the character we control, we will have to move by means of a vehicle where we will dodge enemies or attack them, even recreating the mythical scene where we control the ship and we must destroy the Death Star, this being an epic moment both in the movie and in the video game.

In this game we not only control the main protagonist of the story which is Luke Skywalker, which in the beginning of the game his main weapon will only be a laser gun, but then as we advance in the story we can get his classic lightsaber, which we can use to eliminate our enemies more easily but above all, with greater epicity. Han Solo and Chewbacca will also be playable characters, having these characters both mechanics and different weapons between them and we can control them depending on the point of the story in which we find ourselves. In short, Super Star Wars is a spectacular game, a worthy adaptation of one of the best science fiction movies out there and a game that has left me wanting to play its sequels, which I hope will be as good and entertaining as this first game.

Todays kids won't believe how famous these games were at a time.
I didn't live the boom time of this game, but I was able to investigate and it was crazy at the time when this and its sequels came out, they are very well done.
Correct.
Never played this one but looks good. Great job with the Gifs man, as always.
Thanks man. What I enjoy the most is making the Gifs, I'm glad you appreciate them.
I actually remember hearing of this game years ago because of a whoisthisgit video that was part of his [Worst Levels Ever]...and said level being not any of the normal levels, but specifically, and I'll spoiler it just in case as I think it is near the end...
Hidden Spoiler Text
The sequence where you have to fly into the Death Star, go through a normal level section, and THEN get out of the Death Star again. And that is through a different style of flying section unlike the Mode 7 flight like one of your screenshots, but instead automatically accelerating through what feels like a bunch of tunnels and gates...and one wrong judgement in a SNES game of depth perception in how close you are to a wall and you're dead.
But that aside, I haven't actually got to know or see much of this game...might be interesting to try someday, although I keep saying that often and if I wrote down every game I've said that for, my backlog would be a book at this point 😅
Anyways, always cool in my book to see people take a look at old, lesser known games like this. Even if it is Star Wars, a franchise that needs no introduction, the game is certainly not something that's spoken about these days- especially not compared to the one eternal darling of people that played it [classic Battlefront 1 and 2- my brother told me once he actually had played it at one point when he was younger with a friend that had an OG Xbox lol]
Yes, the game has certain details in the difficulty that I don't know if they did it on purpose or if they were programming and level design errors that they didn't take into account when testing it, but it is still quite enjoyable.
