🔹 A Quiet Return to the North Atlantic – My Night With Assassin’s Creed Rogue🔹

in Hive Gaming5 hours ago

I’d been meaning to write this post for days, but for some reason, every time I sat down to put my thoughts together, something stopped me. Maybe life got in the way, maybe it was simple laziness, or maybe I just felt shy about sharing it. Funny how that happens—you play something you genuinely enjoy, and then when it’s time to talk about it, your mind decides to disappear like smoke in winter. But anyway, tonight I finally convinced myself to sit and revisit the little adventure I had a few days ago with Assassin’s Creed Rogue.

I’d already spent a few hours adapting to Shay’s controls and his slightly heavier movement. It’s strange, because compared to the other Assassins I’ve tried, he feels less like a feather and more like solid muscle. But once you get used to him, he’s incredibly satisfying to handle. So, that evening, I set sail into the North Atlantic again. There is something about those waters that feels strangely calming to me. Maybe it’s the muted blues, the icy fog swirling near the waves, or the quietness between storms. I don’t know. But I swear, it’s one of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve seen in a video game in a long time.

The sky was pale, almost silver, and the ocean looked like a giant mirror cracked by wind. I just stood there on the Morrigan for a moment, letting the view breathe a little. There’s a kind of solitude in Rogue that feels different from other Assassin’s Creed entries. Less about grand cities and more about raw, cold nature. And honestly, that night I needed that silence.

After soaking in the scenery, I headed to my next destination: a mission called “Only for the Invited.” The name alone made me laugh because I knew exactly what that meant—sneaking somewhere I absolutely wasn’t supposed to be. Apparently, my job was to infiltrate the Washington Residence. So I thought, “Well Shay, let’s see how much trouble we can cause tonight.”

When I arrived, the place was glowing with candlelight. Music, laughter, and chatter spilled out of the windows. It was clearly a celebration of the time—elegant dresses, powdered wigs, too much wine, too much ego. I couldn’t help but smile because I imagined Shay standing at the door like: “I’m definitely not dressed for this, but here we go.”

Inside, everything was lively, almost chaotic. People dancing, servants rushing around, guests already half-drunk. The perfect environment for sneaking, honestly—nobody pays attention when they’re too busy bragging about politics and fortunes.

During the infiltration, I stumbled upon something new: the air rifle. And wow… what a brilliant little piece of weaponry. I don’t know if a gadget like that really existed in that era (a small shotgun of fingers, basically), but I wasn’t going to question it. Fiction has its freedoms, and this particular freedom made me grin like an idiot.

It felt so satisfying to use. Quiet, precise, and borderline playful. I lurked around the party balconies like some suspicious stray cat, choosing targets, distracting guards, and trying not to fall off the railing like an idiot—which, by the way, almost happened twice.

My goal was simple: take out the gathered enemies following the requirements. They stood together talking about something I didn’t fully understand—some conversation about politics, conspiracies, names I didn’t recognize. Honestly, it went right over my head. But at least I did what I had to do. One by one, I took them down, fulfilling every little condition the mission demanded

And the best part?
I completed the mission with 100% synchronization.
I literally sat back and whispered: “Finally.”

It wasn’t a long session, but it left me strangely satisfied. It felt good to return to the world of Assassin’s Creed Rogue, even just for a short while. I hope you enjoy reading this little memory of mine as much as I enjoyed living it. Until next time—take care and see you soon.

Man, the way you described the North Atlantic made me want to reinstall Rogue right now. That calm, cold atmosphere hits different.
And air rifle moments in Rogue are always funny. It feels unrealistic, but too good not to enjoy.
