You might remember from my last post a whole ten days ago, that I set the task upon myself to get all the cheevos in Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. And since those ten days, I’ve made quite a bit of progress.
First of all you may wonder why I am exactly setting this task upon myself. Well for one, it’s because I enjoy the game, the second reason is with Dragons Dogma 2 just over the horizon I decided that I would start a tips and tricks series of videos for this game, for newcomers. Considering that there is a lot of aspects about the game that the game doesn’t explain all that well.
So in my last post I went on a rant about missable quests, mostly because Dragon’s Dogma has a cheevo tied to completing all of the side quests. There were a few of these quests where I actually had to look up a guide to see where the start location of them were. By the time of my last post, I was just a few quests away from popping the cheevo.
One of the quests was with Madeline. You might remember me saying that to access this quest you need to back track almost as soon as you get to the Encampment, the area after the starting area. For the quest all you do is escort her, while she stops every now and then to pick up gold. When you get to the encampment she asks you for 10,00g so that when she gets to Gran Soren she can start a shop. In order to get her next quest you must give her the money.
Later on, you meet her in her shop where she talks to you about exclusive gear she can get, but she needs an idol to do so, as the manufacturer gives an idol to his “special” clients which gives them access to elite items. Finding an Idol is only easy. You can get them by doing notice board quests, or even find a few lying around in the world.

After advancing the main story, we learn that she had to flee the city. We end up tracking her down, lie to some guards looking for, and from here she tells us that she plans on fleeing. But not to feel to sad because it’s not the first time she had to start over.

This was the main side quest I had thought I missed but I was wrong. I missed 3 back in Cassardis that are only available before you go to the encampment and one from a merchant named Reynard.
Reynard's quest is easy to activate, you just need to keep buying things from him. The first ones he gives you are ones that require you to find certain items, and the last and final one he wants you to find the journal entries of his father, as the reason he is a travelling merchant is to uncover what happened to him.

It was after doing this quest, that the cheevo popped for me.
The cheevo itself was easy, it was just finding the quests that was a huge pain.
Now, along the way of doing these cheevos, the big one I kept my focus on was one requiring you to get to level 200, so every now and then I headed to an expansion area called Bitterblack Isle, an area only pros of the game should go it, and I kept getting rekt.
So my main class for the most part was a strider, a class that uses a longbow and daggers. And playing as one through this expansion is a mix bag of emotions. The enemy mobs were a huge pain to deal with, but I found the bosses, almost all of them, to be easy to deal with as a strider, except for the last boss Daimon.
This devil looking creature whooped my ass a hundred times, and no matter what I did I just kept dying. It was here where I learned from some stuff online that the best class to take him out was a mystic archer. I was skeptical about switching classes, because it meant that I would have to level the class up again, but I bit the bullet.

I already had an awesome bow that I got from BBI that I could use for this class, so that was covered. But in order to unlock all of the skills, I needed to get the discipline of the class up. So I equipped a ring that increased the discipline exp from kills, and just started moving through the main quest again to get that exp, and to dragonforge my new bow ( it requires you to beat the final boss).
Before I went to beat the final dragon, I decided to visit Forunival, a merchant that sells rare items and bought some items that buffed my character up, and then went to fight the dragon.
As a mystic archer, I destroyed the dragon faster than fast, and after a cutscene, I decided that I needed to do some more preparing before going back to fight Damon. So I focused on getting my class to the max discipline, along the way I also ended up getting the cheevo for collecting 10,000,000 gold!
Once I did what I had to do, I decided to farm the new area that opened up, The Everfall. The Everfall is unique as it has enemies that drop wakestones, items that revive you if you are killed. So I went there and once I acquired 16, I figured it was finally time to fight Damon again.
I made it to Damon without any of my pawns dying, and right away I popped Periphats, that increased my magick damage for a limited amount of time. With a ring equipped that turned one of my skills ( Sixfold Arrow) into a complete beast I went toe to toe with the creature.

The thing itself was a hard fight, mostly because of its cheap gimmicks, including a lot of one hit kills on hard difficulty. But I ended up killing him, using only 5 wakestones, but using all of my periphats, and unlocked the cheevo for beating him… In his first form.

In order to get his true form you need to play through BBI again. So I decided to head to Fournival to buy some new gear… except he ran away from me and everyone in the area was hostile. This was because of events that happened after you beat the dragon. Cursing at myself I had a choice to make. I could go ahead and try playing through BBI again, without any periphats and hope I get lucky when I face Damon’s second form. Or I could complete the main story, and try BBI again in NG+ which would acquire another 2 playthroughs. Seeing as I still needed another 50 or so levels I decided to go with that options. And along the way got the Peace cheevo which requires you to take the main baddies deal.

In NG+ I rushed my way to Gran Soren and when there I decided to knock out another one of my cheevos, and that was to collect 350 different pieces of armor. Needing 100 more pieces, I made my way to the different shops, buying armor and weapons, reselling, then repeating at another store. And sure enough the cheevo dinged!

At this point in time, I made my way a decent portion through my first run of BBI again. Just having defeated a character called The Dark Bishop, and boy do Mystic Archers ever suck against these bosses. Out of the 59 cheevos the game has, I have 52 so far. I’m only missing a few
Local Recruit, which is only directly enlisting a pawn into your service. That’s easy.
The Captain, which requires me to hire 70 pawns, so far I have hired around 40, but this is another easy one as I can just hire and fire pawns.
Solitude, which is just one of the choices you are given end game.
The Speedster, which requires me to complete Speedrun mode. Which will only be easy considering that I have all my portcrystals placed at all major story locations which will let me beat the game in under the 45 mins speedrun requires.
Cheat Death- Which is gotten by killing death in BBI. From what I understand there is a way to cheese this and I might just do it, as he is a pain to deal with.

It's nice when you find games like these that just click and you HAVE to get all the achievements. They're special. I couldn't even finish this game personally.
When I first played the game years ago, I found it right hard to get into, but after completing my first playthrough, I started to really enjoy it!
And they are! It's going to be my first 100% on Steam!
