I’ve only beaten RE7 once, and that was when it first came out. And I loved it. I remember getting the game, firing it up on my big screen and shutting all the lights off in the in-law apartment I was living in connected to my parent's house. I was playing the game and just escaped from the table scene, and as I was running away from Jack, he burst through the wall and I screamed. Just as that happened, my brother snuck inside of my apartment and scared the shit out of me too. So it was a good memory. So after playing the Demo for the game, I decided to hop on CDKEYS and buy a Steam key for the game.
The game starts off with a video of the protagonist's wife, the first video she is happy and excited, but the next one is completely different. She is dishevelled and tells her husband to stay away. Then we get a cut scene where a car is driving along the road. It’s the husband, Ethan Winters, and he is talking to his friend. Apparently, that video was sent three years prior and Mia had been missing since then. But Ethan got an email from her very recently giving him an address and telling him to come and get her.

When Ethan gets to his destination, we are met with a classic “horror movie” atmosphere. There’s a derelict old house locked behind a gate, but there is a pathway going through the woods. And right away, if you played the demo you would know something was up.
You come across your path on your way to get inside of the house to search for Mia. There’s a camera stand beside the van, and if you open it up you can see the “plot” for a sewer gator episode, along with a picture of Clancy, Peter, and Andre.

But the big kicker is when you eventually get to the house, and realize that it is the exact same house that we explored in the demo, as Clancy. And almost everything is the same. There was rotten meat in the kitchen, and it was just almost a one-on-one replica of the demo, with a few changes.

I made my way to the TV room, already knowing what I needed to do. Along the way I made my way to the attic and picked up a Derelict House VHS tape, and it is the exact same tape we see in the demo, with Clancy, Andre, and Peter exploring the house before going missing.

It was flooded with dirty water, and as Ethan made his way through it, in an attempt to find Mia, the body of Andre floated up to the surface.

And slowly, like in a scene out of The Exorcist, a possessed-looking Mia crawled up the stairs, lunging at Ethan and stabbing at him with a knife.

Already knowing where the fuse box was from the demo, I made my way back to the TV room, popped the fuse in, and ran upstairs to access the attic.

She disappeared for a moment before reappearing with a chainsaw. I remember thinking “Fuck, Fuck, Fuck” when I first experienced this scene as I desperately tried to get the screwdriver loose. Unfortunately, it didn’t have the same effect the second time around.

She chased me around the room, trying to recreate a scene out of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Carefully, I aimed my shots at her head, and after dying once, I was able to take her out, in her “last” breaths she told Ethan she loved him.
But Ethan wasn’t in the clear, because Jack appeared, uttering the same line he did in the demo “Welcome to the family, Son,” before knocking Ethan out.

Before he could shove it in his eye, he was interrupted by a knock, apparently from a cop who had been skulking around.

I tried to hide from him, but it didn’t work so I ran.

He was able to hit me once before I got through the hole. But Jack, being clever, shut the hatch after I went through the hole and put something over it.

As I crawled through this crawlspace I eventually came to a laundry room, with some goodies, a save station, and an item box. As I was about to exit it, the phone rang. It was Zoe she told me that there was a way out through the main hall, I just had to get there. So that was my next objective.
As I was making my way there, I heard a banging on a window, and it was the cop. Ethan begged for his help, but the cop just thought that he was some kind of nut job. The cop told him to meet him in the garage and Ethan tried to convince him to give him his gun to defend himself, but the cop wouldn’t go for it, instead he gave him a pocket knife.

The cop on edge, thought Ethan was somehow doing it and as he turned around to confront him jack appeared from behind him and sent a shovel through the top half of his face.

When I entered the main hall another phone rang, it was Zoe. She said that the way outside was locked and that I needed to find three dog heads to unlock it. My next objective was made clear, but would I be able to complete it, especially when Jack makes a surprise return?

Great horror game although the first person view make me dizzy. I'm more used to the third person view and even the fixed camera angles in Resident Evil games.
It was a bit odd for RE to go this route, but I do enjoy it!
