Introduction to Terraria🌳

in Hive Gaming2 months ago

Welcome to my blog.

Hello, game lovers.

I think I've posted here before, and if not, let me introduce myself. I'm Héctor, and today I'm here to introduce you to a great game that I love not only for its retro pixel art style but also for its great difficulty and variety. I'm talking about none other than Terraria.

¿What is Terraria?🌳

Terraria is a 2D action-adventure sandbox game developed by Re-Logic and released in 2011. Terraria is a game that blends survival, building, combat, and exploration. Terraria is one of those rare games that draws you in not so much because of its pixel art graphics or its adventure nature, but because of its wide variety of bosses, weapons, and its high difficulty for beginners.

Although... Don't believe it, even if you know the basics of Terraria and have passed the classic mode (the easiest), that's nothing because if you suffered on that difficulty, you'll be missing two more that make the game twice or three times as difficult (depending on the difficulty). Or at least that's how I feel.

¿How to start the game?

When you start Terraria, you create a character of your choice. You can change their outfit and hair type, change the color of the aforementioned items, and change their eyes. You can also choose the character's difficulty (more on that below). After creating your character and giving it a name, you proceed to create a world and set the difficulty and curse (more on that below). This world, when created, will contain unique biomes such as jungles, deserts, dungeons, hells, and even floating skies.

When you create your character, you can choose between several difficulty modes:

Classic: You only lose money upon death. This is the normal mode.

Medium: You lose all your items upon death, like in Minecraft.

Extreme: Hardcore mode. If you die, your character is deleted.

Additionally, the world can have three difficulty levels:

Normal: Enemies and bosses with normal stats.

Expert: More difficult; bosses, when defeated, will drop better rewards and unique items for this difficulty, as well as stronger enemies.

Master: The ultimate challenge, with more aggressive AI, additional mechanics for boss battles, and unique rewards from bosses on this difficulty.

There's also Journey Mode, which is like a creative mode: you can duplicate items, control the weather, and explore without limits. However, you'll need a character in this mode. This means that a Classic, Medium, or Hardcore character won't be able to enter this world.

When you enter your world with your character, they'll have basic tools: a pickaxe, an axe, and a sword. At first, you're not given many details about what you'll be doing, and you'll have to explore, collect resources, build, and face enemies like zombies, slimes, bees, and more. It's a game that will reward you for exploring the world, as you can collect all kinds of chests with good rewards throughout your adventure.

¿How many NPCs does the game have?

Terraria has many NPCs, all of whom are very important for progressing through the game. When you enter your world, the first NPC you encounter is the guide, who will tell you how to make certain items with the items you have.

NPCs will arrive in your world if you meet certain conditions, such as building houses or defeating certain bosses. Each one has unique functions: they sell items, heal, offer quests, etc.

Android has approximately 25 NPCs in total (on PC there are more than 25), 22 of which require houses and the other three do not. Here are a few:

Guide: The first one to appear, gives you basic advice.

Merchant: Sells useful items.

Nurse: Heals your health for money.

Demolisher: Sells explosives.

Zoologist, Pirate, Mage, Stylist, Innkeeper, Cyborg, among others.

¿How many bosses does Terraria have?

Terraria is a game with a wide variety of bosses, divided into two categories: Pre-Hardmode and Hardmode. Each boss must be killed to obtain both essential items and progress through the game.

I'd like to explain how each event happens, how to easily defeat each boss, how to make their summoners, etc. However, I don't want to make this post too long, and another time I'll go into more depth about each of today's topics and others I'd like to teach you.
