Splinterlands SocMed Challenge: Playing with the New Cards

in Hive Gamingyesterday (edited)

Greetings to all Splinterlands players and Midnight Letters community! Last week, the new reward cards were released. I'm steadily increasing my reward cards playing and earning glints in Modern Format. I posted some of my games using them and it's nice to have new cards.

Black Foil

I'm happy to win my first Black Foil card. It's an epic Foundation card, Kicking Roc. I won it from the weekly Fortune draws in the Frontier Format. Black Foil means it's already at maximum level and only a few copies are available for collectors. I put it up for sale and planning to use the proceeds to upgrade my archons and other cards.

New Cards in My Deck

I only have common and rare cards and they already are a big part in my repertoire. My favorite card is Coral Forged. It's only a common card but it let's me play my strategy of putting another melee unit behind it.

A recent game I played with Coral Forged in the front. Two melee units in front and magic units behind them is a strategy I use frequently not just with Water element. Apart from Coral Forged, the other cards I used were:

Commander Slade a melee unit having three attacks and also thick defense.

Great Bear Druid a legendary unit that attacks with both melee and magic.

Saltwater Mage an epic unit that has two magic attacks.

Shock Trooper is the strongest attacker among my units. It has four magic attacks.

Frostguard Warrior is an archer attacker. I could use another magic attacker but I decided to use this unit. I like its Snipe skill that attacks archer and magic units.

My opponent has a legendary archon with Earth Foundation cards. He also had two melee in front but in this game, my magic units were stronger attackers and beat my opponent's defense.

Saltwraith Bulkhead

A strong card in the for the front position, Saltwraith Bulkhead has four attacks and thick defense. I like using this card with magic units behind it. The rest of the cards were:

Skyspire Leopard has two attacks and low mana with only five.

Ironwing Juggernaut a new common reward card. It's only three mana and has two attacks.

Janni Rebel a magic unit with two attacks. She has Inspire skill that boosts the attacks of melee units.

Thunderous Herald is a Conclave Arcana core card with two magic attacks.

Aria Bandit is an archer with two attacks and Snipe skill.

My cards in this game is the same as the first game. I had melee cards in front, magic in the middle and archer with Snipe skill at the back. My opponent used a team of all Foundation cards. These are cards are weaker than core and reward cards so I won the game.

Careless Badger

Careless Badger is a rare Death element. It's an archer with two attacks and low life and speed stats. It's only three mana perfect for games with low mana.

The game was limited to twenty four mana so I chose cards that can fit the limit.

Ujurak Brave has six mana and thick defensive stats. It takes the front position.

Silverleaf Warlock has six mana. It's a core Conclave Arcana card. It has two magic attacks.

Broken Earth Thug has three mana. It has one attack and Opportunity skill.

Careless Badger has three mana. It has two archer attack.

All in all, I had four cards while my opponent only had three. My cards had superior stats and lower mana. My opponent played with all Foundation cards again and lost.

Conclusion

Reward cards are easy to acquire. They can be gained by playing and earning glints from wins. It gave me the advantage when my opponent played with Foundation cards. The reward cards were stronger and better than most Foundation sets. To have more wins, we have to keep playing and win more cards we can then use in our games.
