You know when I proposed the Traveler's Tales idea to miHoYo I suggested that these cameo scenes be simple, randomized and sporadic. That way some players happen to find them while others don't. The community then erupts into activity because it becomes something similar to celebrity sightings. Did you see that character over there?
Instead they started this feature off as an event where you basically hunted down the cameos that were shown on the map. These were mostly not simple cameos and back then we had a strike so they weren't even voiced in English and overall it just felt like the devs had made attempts at new stories or quests but couldn't complete those ideas and didn't want the work they already did to go to waste. Therefore they stuffed them all into this event.
Now that it's become permanent meaning there's no time limit, it's taking even longer to collect them all. It isn't like you don't know when and where they'll take place. It's just that the game is throttling your ability to get it over with in a timely fashion. Back then we had 5 of these per day. Now you sometimes only get 1.
I'm hoping they'll stop it sooner than later and then fix it so it'll be less invasive to the daily gaming experience. The Columbina side of things was done much better. No rewards to chase after except for the big ones that are expressly shown on the map. Meanwhile you just get a random scene of Columbina living her life each time you go visit. The only shortcoming here is that you know exactly where she'll be and the cameos happen every time. Rather than fun chance encounters for players to happen upon, share and chat about, you just spam visit her to brute force all of the possible scenarios.
But what about you guys? Do you like the Traveler's Tales feature? Or would you also prefer to get them at random just while you're out in the world of Teyvat?
