RE: Mortal Kombat Project 2026 Released Bringing Massive Character Roster

in Hive Gaming9 days ago (edited)

This project really shows how much the fighting game community is still passionate about Mortal Kombat. The diversity of the player base is insane in itself, and it's amazing how fans continue to develop ideas that publishers would probably never dare to commercialize. I also liked your explanation of how M.U.G.E.N. lowers the barrier for creators, while still requiring a lot of work in organizing sprites, levels, and balancing gameplay. It's funny that while browsing fan projects, I came across deposit $1 get $20 nz which brings together a lot of games in one place and has a ranking. The internet really does bring together the strangest corners of gaming culture sometimes.

I still remember the first time I got a custom mix of characters and amenities working in MUGEN, it was awesome. I am honestly surprised more indie developers have not taken up the opportunities it represents. They don't have to release full on fighting games based on their games but the other stuff would rock.

Could you imagine level packs, sound effects etc based on games or characters?
