The Splinterlands team has announced the arrival of the new reward cards! I remember scrambling to burn all my Gold Foil cards, reward summoners, and random shit coins on Hive-Engine just to get all of the Common Chaos Legion Soulbound Reward cards to MAX level and still not having enough when the Rebellion Reward cards were announced, but I luckily had enough SPS staked and plenty of cards for the Archmage bot to earn what I needed this time. I failed to MAX any of the Epic or Legendary cards, but I'm still happy with what I won with this run.
I have no idea what the new cards look like or what abilities they will have, but I'm very excited for the changes that are going to take place with this next batch. I aped in as hard as I could to buy as many packs as possible, hoping to open a black card when Conclave Arcana came out, but I was unlucky. The cool thing about this new set of reward cards is that there will be a lucky draw every week for over a year, so if you play every week, you're sure to get at least one of the special cards over the run.
What's your collection strategy?
It was a long and boring grind, but I focused on getting all of my common cards to MAX level before I started collecting the rare, epic, or legendary cards for the Rebellion Reward cards. I now know that was a mistake because you will get plenty of common cards over the run, so I'll be focusing on getting my rare and epic cards to MAX level for the Conclave Arcana reward cards.
No More Soulbound Nonsense
Too many scammers, bots, and extractors have been ruining our game, so they had to make reward cards soulbound. This was necessary to save the economy, but it really killed the fun of the game and drove away many loyal players. Well, this time they've come up with a nice solution: Standard cards will still be soulbound, but there will be a new item in chests which can unlock them, and Gold and Black cards will NOT be soulbound, so opening those will be fun again.
I'm looking forward to fellow players and streamers going crazy when they find ultra-rare and expensive cards that they can immediately sell and turn into real cash that helps their actual non-blockchain life. If I get super lucky, I'll probably keep my celebration to myself and sell the expensive card for HBD, put it into savings, and eat off the interest. My ultimate goal is to have 100K in HBD and live of the APR. It may not be enough where you live, but I live in Laos and 15% of 100K is 15gs a year and over a thousand bucks a month, and ten times what the average person earns here so I'd be super happy with that. A crappy apartment here is a hundred bucks a month, and a banger house is about 500 bucks. Food is both good and cheap, and a big beer is only a dollar so I wouldn't be living like a king, but I wouldn't need to work if I didn't want to, and I'd finally have that "fuck you" money I've always wanted. I don't expect to get a hundred K worth of black foil cards this run of reward cards, but if I do get a card or two, it will certainly help me on my way to that goal. Who knows, maybe we hit a super bull run in 2026. Maybe I don't win shit, but I truly am excited, and I'm sure you and lots of other people are too, so we'll surely see the player base grow because of these changes.
