Happy Halloween, fellow Splinterfreaks! What will you or your kids dress up as this year? Did you get any of the Halloween-themed skins for your cards? This week's Splinterlands community engagement challenge is to share battlefield breakthrough strategies or cards that you'd like to share. I don't have a particular battle or card to share today, but rather a whole set: The Foundation cards.
I've never been able to have a complete set of EVERY card in Splinterlands yet. I got close back in the Beta days and have most of the Chaos cards, but I'm only two cards away from having a complete Foundations set! I could go to the market and pick up the two cards I'm missing, but they are the most expensive cards in the set, and I'll win them for free eventually, so maybe I'll just rent them so I have the maximum potential for wins, but I'm doing well with what I've got now.
Rather than show you just a single battle, I've shared my last five, which were all victories. When I first tried playing in Frontier, I hated it because the cards were high-mana and weak, and I couldn't win to save my life, but things have changed since I've leveled all of my Archons up to level 2, as well as all of my rares. The commons are usually cheaper than a penny, so getting them leveled up to level 3 was easy, and sometimes you can pick up Epic and Legendary cards on the market for less than a dime, too.
Why should I care about weak, low-level noob cards?
That was what I was asking when Frontier mode first came out, but I'm here to tell you why I was wrong. Firstly, you can win Black Foil Arcane or Gold Foil Arcane cards! You don't have to buy packs. All you have to do is play. While the odds are very low that you'll actually get a Black card, it's still pretty awesome that the possibility is there for free just by playing the game and not needing to be some deep-pocketed whale.
Not all the cards suck. Look at this beautiful card. Not only does it look totally badass, but it also has a decent amount of life and even strengthens all of your other cards. Giam Root would be useful in any mode of the game, and he cost me $0.
Foundations is fun.
I suck at Modern. I'm still in Silver III. It just frustrates and angers me when I play, so I'll let several days go by so the competition will soften up, and I can maybe win a few games to make it up to the next league, but I rarely even make it to the Gold League (unless I rent an expensive MAX-level Dragon Archon and use my Rebellion Reward cards like a crutch.)
Wild is hard, too. I mostly let the Archmage bot take care of my Wild gameplay because it simply wins more than I ever do, so I rarely play in Wild anymore, either, and Survival mode is also better left to the AI, so the only thing I have left now is Foundations.
Most people in Foundations are noobs, and even though I've crawled my way up from Bronze to Gold III, I rarely ever see anyone using anything other than a bunch of level 1 cards, so it's easy to win the five battles you need to get your prize as long as you have at least level 2 archons and level 3 commons.

I was talking about this on Discord too. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything cause the 🔥 archon I'm about to level up to level 3 went from 8 cents to 15 cents.😂 My winrate since leveling up is over 60%. I can't wait till I have EVERY card at MAX. It will be like the time they dropped level caps or when you don't play for a month and you've fallen down to 🥉 League and there's nothing but noobs in your way.
