As much as I hate to say this, New World is absolutely chock full of problems at the moment and over the past week or so I just haven't really wanted to play. I'm enjoying the game! But there are so many things wrong with it that I just don't feel motivated to bother.
Yesterday, my partner suggested that we give Final Fantasy 14 another go.
We stopped playing back around the start of the year simply because we were going through the post-50 slog and I just couldn't deal with the amount of back-and-forthing we were doing just to get to the next expansion's content... I've never felt more exhausted questing in a game.
This time I have a secret plan. To use the Tales of Adventure on their store to just get to the next expansion because damn.
But first! I must reach that part of the story again.
For, I have made a new character.
Now, I know in FFXIV you don't need to make new characters and whatever. You can do everything on the one character if you so desire. However... I logged into my old character and died a little inside. Too many abilities. I didn't know what to do. Yay I had a shiny wolf mount! But I didn't know what to do or how to do it.
It's not like WoW where I've played on and off for over a decade so just know all the things as though they've been ingrained in my brain forever.
Some people balk at the idea of starting over from scratch. Starting everything over from scratch. But that's how I fly. My partner was horrified. But if I was going to play this game, I needed to do it my way... right from the very start on a clean slate.
It doesn't bother me that I have to relearn being a ninja, and fishing, cooking, botany, everything. It DOES bother me to play an old character and be completely lost and overwhelmed. I'm not normal. 😅 It takes me a lonnngggg time to really remember things and get the hang of things again. For some people it might take an hour, for me it can take up to a couple of weeks, and I'd rather just start anew instead of feeling awkward and headachey for so long.
And this time I've decided that I'll play the game as though it was a multiplayer RPG rather than your standard MMO. I'm sure that'll help my enjoyment too.
You know what else helps my enjoyment?
The fact that Australian servers will be released just after the next expansion! Woooo! No more shall I suffer with a 150-200ms ping!
AND I'll get goodies for transferring to a brand new unpopulated server. More woo!
Anyway. On my adventure of starting a new character, I've discovered that you can't send mail to yourself - you can only send mail to people on your friends list. So I had to send my partner all my gil and get him to send it to my new character.
Annoying.
Not so annoying is the fact that I've just discovered this game has a photo mode!
I played it for nearly a month solid earlier in the year, and I just never noticed this. I will relish this information and this mode and take a bazillion screenshots I shall thrust upon you all! Muahahaha!
In the meantime, I've decided to make Tharmaturge my first class/job -- a class I didn't try at all last time I played -- and hope I can get into the swing of things again.
Since I won't be playing with my partner at the moment, since he's gone straight into the next expansion thanks to the Tales of Adventure, I won't feel as rushed either so can take my time doing things instead of being so focused on levelling, levelling, levelling, must get to endgame, level, level, level.
That alone might make me stick with this a little longer. 😅
I will take my time.

Hey! Hope you enjoy FFXIV this time around. I haven't played New World but the things I heard weren't too good to say the least lol. Thaumuturge/Blackmage is a bit of a slog in the beginning but it gets so good once you hit 50 and the levels after that, I really enjoy it even though I'm a Samurai main xD
Hope you have a great time in FFXIV and if you have a chance you might wanna check out the Clubs in the game, they are hosted by players and I recently went to a Halloween one, it was so good!
Yeah, there's a lot of things wrong with New World at the moment but that's not to say that it's a bad game. 🙂 It does so many things right, but it is absolutely full of bugs, glitches, exploits, and broken weapons and abilities, and it's terrible. I think I'll wait a few months before trying it again!
As for FFXIV - I really enjoyed it last time I played too! 😊 But I didn't really get right into it. My partner just wanted to get to endgame because he had never experienced it before, and I was just following along, not really paying too much attention to things.
This time I want to do it right! 😃

Yes! They are created by players and usually advertised through the chat in the big Cities like Limsa Lominsa just have to keep an eye out for them :) They also have "staff" there like Barkeepers, dancers and bouncers lol it's really fun and a great experience (some oddballs here and there but I you just have to deal with that or ignore them :P)
They also have Djs playing live Music, usually streaming on Twitch so you can have that on in the background as well, as I said it's wild! The game has so much to offer that it's kind of overwhelming but you just gotta ease into it and try stuff out you find interesting :)
Oh that does sound nifty!! 😃 I'll have to keep an eye out for them!
I'm on the server Tonberry which is apparently one of the highest populated ones with a mix of Japanese, South East Asians, Australians and New Zealanders, so there should hopefully be something going on when I'm online. 😊
Awesome to have another FFXIV player in the community. I'm still going strong. Finished Heavensward last week and am making good progress through Stormblood. The post ARR MSQ was a slog for sure but the story was good in my opinion. You should maybe try to read up on a summary or at least watch the last few cutscenes right before Heavensward cause there's some important plot points happening there. If you're as much as a story nerd as me. I had no troubles running through the post ARR stuff because I was so invested in the story and in no rush to move on.

My main issue before was that my partner was trying to rush through to current endgame as he has experienced all of A Realm Reborn a couple of times before and I was just following along for the ride, not really knowing what was going on - this time he's on his way there and I'm starting from scratch and have the motivation to do things at my own pace.
I spent a lot of time on that character creation! 😅 I'm a little disappointed that the horns are connected to her face type, but that's okay. She's ready for her grand adventure!!

Not really NaNoWriMo as such, but I've decided to do a continuation of Joey and Jenny for the entire month, except Weekend Freewrite day. 😊 May have started a couple of days early, but oh well!!
I still have that Joey and Jenny story: It All Went Down at the Whistling Fart 😂 and I'm always happy to get more possible content for it. May get something out of this! Either way, I'll be writing all month!!!

Even tho I dont play the game I allways admire it. The character creator in this game is so awesome and overall the visual thing. It all looks so beatiful, I heared there is even an RolePlaying guilds, just like in GTA5. They act like they do stuff, dance etc, this game is so big and amazing.
From what I can see, it has a very active and friendly community! During my very first minutes on this character, as I was roaming around the city I started in, someone randomly traded with me and started talking to me about how they were giving me some free clothes as a gift for later on when I can start transmogging / using the "glamour" dresser. That was refreshing compared to other MMOs!! 🙂
I've only seen a teeny bit of roleplaying whilst in the cities, but from what I've been told there are big social RP events and things, and there are RP guilds too! Definitely a very "happening" game!
