I've played most of the HIVE games, the popular ones at least: Splinterlands, Rising Star, even Crypto Brewmaster. But this post is about one little-known game that I am most excited about. That is eXode!
To say I'm critical of games is an understatement. I move and invest funds depending on how I feel about the direction and future of the game (usually after giving it a fair shot). Certain aspects, like multi-account and botting, will turn me away quick. That said, it's not like I'm giving up!
Now let me say, I have invested thousands of USD into a variety of games, including those HIVE ones. It's a fact, I haven't lost money on a single one yet. That's nothing to brag about really, blockchain games are gaining popularity. I expect, within a decade, the whole ecosystem will be $2 trillion (NFT asset valuation). Yes, NFT game items will be big. Big, big.
Now some history and FOMO'ing out of the way, I will explain eXode as I understand it. I will point out many good things, contrary to my tendencies! If you knew how critical and skeptical I am, your ears just perked up! Okay, okay, back to the FOMO in a minute...
First, the website UI is a bit difficult to manage. The developer is aware, but there are other priorities. If you are familiar with the HIVE KEYCHAIN extension, you are halfway through conquering the hardships of eXode.
When you get to test the actual game (which is only the evacuation and scanning phase), the UI is amazing. The game is great. You just need to buy that Origin card, and you'll see for yourself. It is also a developer's priority to get a client. I think that's a big deal, and something to look forward to!
What the game is now, is nothing compared to what is coming SOON. As mentioned, you can run the evacuation and scan right now. Those features are not even polished, but there's enough to convince me, this game has serious potential. You should know, that by joining now and being part of the ongoing alpha, you can get your own exclusive planet NFT. It has been stated this is a very large reward for people who are playing right now. I don't doubt that.
With the planet, you can't do much yet. That's the thing, that's why this is an investment. You can't do the best part! Besides being a space exploration game, you can manage a colony on your own NFT planet! You know what that means? Harvesting more NFT to sell!
We know the formula by now, usually, the more you own, the more you mine, the more you earn, etc. That is a difficult factor to avoid, and to be honest, will play a role in almost every blockchain game, like it or not. The key: GET IN EARLY. Secure your assets and leap ahead!
I know, serious players have serious questions. We must always worry about asset dilution etc. We don't want our NFT to just be minted like a money grab and make your items a dime a dozen.
The eXode developer has stated he has OUR interests in mind. He would like to see our assets increase in value. Yes, it is possible, and yes I believe he will come though!
So why now? Do you need a better reason than your own NFT planet, to start mining before anyone else? The window is closing fast! Perhaps a few weeks left. You can buy a single starter for $10, learn a little about the game, complete the evac and scan, and claim your planet. That's a small price.
There aren't many people invested in this game AT ALL. It's such a gem, I think. I think it makes Alien Worlds look like Fisher-Price.
But to that, reviewing the cards, it's easy to get overwhelmed. It might seem TOO complicated at a glance. I don't think that it is. You just won't learn it in a day. That's not bad. Also, soon, soon, we will be able to colonize these planets. Use our cards as intended! We will see how they work and synergize in practice.
I can't stress, the best part is soon! That is utilizing these cards for what they are meant to be. This is the ground floor on something big, IMO. This is not going to be a boring game with a simple click, click grind. There are going to be decisions and discoveries. What can I say, other than I believe in it?
Now, you know my position. You know a little about the game. It's coming. The bulk of the game is being rolled out, with big updates promised weekly. I believe it.
It has been stated that these Alpha boosters ($3 each) will be removed from the market within weeks! Weeks! Then on to the Beta boosters. I expect this will all align with the giant proposition of putting our cards to use!
There's a lot to learn, to be honest, I beg, don't get turned off by the seeming complexity, even 'outlandishness' of the cards. I study hard. I see the odds are in favor of eXode.
So back to those boosters. You might think, oh well beta boosters, just more cards, then more and more. I don't think it will work like that. From what I read, it will be more like Beta cards will be new factions, separate from what we have. There will be more options of synergy than anything. Again, his goal is to create value for us. I trust him.
That's about it. I want you to try eXode before you lose the chance for your own NFT planet. Get KEYCHAIN. Signup for the game, buy the $10 starter, and get that planet! Research the player market, learn about the cards!
As you learn, you'll see that Alpha booster legendaries (1% chance per card) number about 40 each. 40 cards. LOL! If this game gets remotely popular, these cards, which are supposed to synergize with the beta set could be worth way more. I play for investment as much as fun. eXode is promising to all my ambitions.
The cards are beyond the scope of this. Much of what I could say and suggest is subjective!

I haven't completed the scanner and evac's yet. I tried the evac, and it was fun but my computer is too slow to really handle the game well. I have been saving for a new computer and am hoping that happens soon, so I've kind of put off playing the game until then. I wasn't aware of the alpha packs at the end of the "walk through" or whatever you call it..
I never remember seeing anything about this when I joined, so that's why I'm wondering if this is a new thing and if I will still receive it if I complete the tutorial. That's the word I was looking for. Tutorial.. damn brain no work too good

You can ask in discord that your account gets put on someone's referral (for the 2 packs + epic). Yes, you can get an epic card after some conditions :D
The game has changed a bit since you played, maybe. You need to access your 'Colonization Pass'. From there, you see ability to start a new EVAC. Once you run the evac successfully, you get taken to a 'scaning' phase. This is the 2nd step. It might take a few tries, but you can do it with the starter cards! (Try and use a good pilot).
After the succesful EVAC+SCAN = Planet NFT. It will display in your NFT area, showing you a little about it.
He said the ability to get this planet will go away, for now. We are just lucky to be at the right place at the right time to get them. We are the testers! And we will mine real NFT from them, and start testing the game before it really opens up.
Eventually there will be more planets, but for now, these are limited. Maybe you should try going to friends house and playing it for the day :) You can try a better browser. The game runs in browser. BRAVE browser uses less system resources. Then close all programs other than browser...
I tried it, too. I though I understand what to do in the EVAC phase, but didn't managed it. I bought the 20$ 3 Starter pack version and now i don't know which cards are the best one to take with for the evac phase.... that was month ago and I never tried it again... a mentor or tutorial is what I need now ^^

You can do it, watch a youtube video, there are a couple.
At this stage, you don't really need to load passengers or cargo. Simply get the fuel (try for 300k) and repair the hyperdrive, then launch! After EVAC, you do the scan. It will take a few tries!
You need a card with good piloting skill in your deck, that will help a lot.
The first time I looked at the game, I didn't dive in either. I took about a month to try more, and once I did, I was happy. I see so much potential. It's important you secure your NFT Planet while you can. Keep trying:) Ask for help in their discord if you have more trouble.
