This is a social simulation video game developed and published by Nintendo, released on 20 March 2020 for the Nintendo Switch console.

The title is the fifth main installment in the popular ‘Animal Crossing’ series and has been acclaimed by critics and players alike, becoming a cultural phenomenon during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here players assume the role of a character who moves to a deserted island after acquiring a holiday package from Tom Nook, an iconic character in the series.

From the start, players have the freedom to customise their island, choosing their layout, decorating their home and creating an environment that reflects their personal style.

Gameplay is based on collecting resources, building furniture and interacting with a variety of adorable animal neighbours that inhabit the island.

A feature of the game is its real time cycle, which means that seasons and events in the game coincide with the real world.

This allows players to experience different activities and festivities throughout the year, such as harvesting fruit, fishing, hunting insects and celebrating special events like Earth Day or Halloween.

It also introduces new mechanics, such as the crafting system, which allows players to create tools and furniture from collected materials. In addition, the game offers an online multiplayer mode, where players can visit friends' islands, trade items and enjoy activities together.

The game's aesthetic is colourful and charming, with vibrant graphics and an endearing character design that has resonated with players of all ages.

The music and sound effects contribute to a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere, making ‘New Horizons’ a perfect retreat for those looking to escape the stresses of everyday life.

I loved the meme where people combined this game and Doom Eternal. It also ended up producing a mod where you can insert Isabelle into all the original doom games as a companion. XD

Animal Crossing is a different game, I remember I played the Wii version and I liked it, but as it's not my kind of genre I didn't play it much, but between so many violent videogames like Elden Ring or Warzone, it's a good recommendation haha.

It is a game to have fun for a while without much stress.
