I was never a golf fan but in the 70's and with an Atari, all sports were the main course to compete with friends, which is why it was very easy to become a golf legend without many rules, just hitting and putting holes.

Actually, Atari Golf wasn't exactly known for its sophistication.
The game featured very simple graphics and basic gameplay.
But, hey, in 1978, that was the best we had even if it seems archaic today.
So, if you're nostalgic for the first golf games in video games, Atari Golf might be an option for you.
I still occasionally, through a rom and emulator, play it and remember those moments of my pre-adolescence.
