yeah, we just had to accept it because honestly, how else were they going to do it? Zelda 2 tried and it never really worked until Secret of Mana but this can only work to a limited degree. In turn based combat it is really tough to pull off. If you are at all familiar with modern Dragon Quest games you will know that it is exceptionally easy to avoid almost all encounters because the enemies are one screen and you walk faster than they do. Ni No Kuni kind of found a sweet medium spot but in the end RNG attacks are probably the easiest to code and that is why they are in there. I mean honestly, other than the voiceover work I believe they probably just re-used FF code from the early 90's to make this entire game.
