[EN-ID] From FPS Into A Career

In 2003, I got to know an online game from the FPS genre, namely Counter Strike which is still in version 1.5 in Indonesia and still uses a trackball mouse that must always be cleaned before playing in order to aim properly. After that I started competing by participating in various events and tournaments in 2005 with Counter Strike version 1.6, this game is very popular among internet cafes because of the amount of money as prizes that attract the interest of the surrounding players. When your hobby becomes your career, perhaps the easiest way to maintain your passionate attitude is to keep learning, keep mastering and keep innovating. That is, after all, what typically keeps a person interested in their hobbies.

Tahun 2003, saya mengenal game online dari genre FPS yaitu Counter Strike yang masih dalam versi 1.5 di Indonesia dan masih menggunakan mouse trackball yang harus selalu dibersihkan sebelum bermain agar dapat membidik dengan tepat. Setelah itu saya mulai berkompetisi dengan mengikuti berbagai event dan turnamen pada tahun 2005 dengan Counter Strike versi 1.6, game ini sangat populer dikalangan warnet karena adanya sejumlah uang sebagai hadiah yang menarik minat para pemain disekitarnya. Ketika hobi Kamu menjadi karir, mungkin cara termudah untuk menjaga semangat Kamu adalah dengan terus belajar, terus menguasai dan terus berinovasi. Lagi pula, itulah yang biasanya membuat seseorang tertarik pada hobinya.

Due to my passion for playing games and gathering people to play together, in 2006 becoming an operator at one of the internet cafes in Jakarta, Indonesia, was my first career in the gaming industry. At that time I often held competitions and had the desire to have a career in game publishers, especially game publishers who had games with the FPS genre. A career in Gaming Industry is exciting but a strikingly competitive field with a combination of creativity, technology, and fun. It is always an interesting and unique career for those who are passionate about gaming and commit their lives to creating new and improved games.

Dikarenakan kegemaran saya dalam bermain game dan mengumpulkan orang untuk bermain bersama, pada tahun 2006 menjadi operator di salah satu warnet Jakarta, Indonesia, adalah karir pertama saya dalam industri game. Saat itu saya sering mengadakan kompetisi dan memiliki keinginan dalam berkarir di publisher game, terutama publisher game yang memiliki game dengan genre FPS. Karir di Industri Game memang mengasyikkan tetapi merupakan bidang yang sangat kompetitif dengan kombinasi kreativitas, teknologi, dan kesenangan. Itu selalu merupakan karir yang menarik dan unik bagi mereka yang bersemangat bermain game dan berkomitmen untuk menciptakan game baru dan lebih baik.

There is no such thing as a wrong decision, especially when you're just getting started. The only way to turn your passion into your job is to follow up with every lead that comes your way. In the end, I got the opportunity to work for an online game publisher from Thailand who set up an office in Jakarta, Indonesia. Starting from just a sales voucher seller to an internet cafe, and finally serving as Project Manager for all online games at that Publisher.

Tidak ada yang namanya keputusan yang salah, terutama saat kamu baru memulai. Satu-satunya cara untuk mengubah passion kamu menjadi pekerjaan adalah dengan menindaklanjuti setiap petunjuk yang datang kepada kamu. Pada akhirnya saya mendapatkan kesempatan untuk bekerja di salah satu publisher game online dari Thailand yang mendirikan kantornya di Jakarta, Indonesia. Dimulai dari hanya seorang sales penjual voucher ke warnet, dan akhirnya menjabat sebagai Project Manager untuk semua game online di Publisher tersebut.

When a hobby is just a hobby, it’s all fun and games. You do it because you love doing it, not because you have to do it. But when that hobby becomes a job, you have to work on it regardless of how you feel. The key is how you can manage your time and divide your real life with your in-game life.	Ketika hobi hanyalah suatu hobi, itu semua hanyalah suatu kesenangan dan permainan. Kamu melakukannya karena Kamu suka melakukannya, bukan karena Kamu harus melakukannya. Tetapi ketika hobi itu menjadi pekerjaan, Kamu harus mengerjakannya terlepas dari apa yang Kamu rasakan. Kuncinya adalah bagaimana kamu dapat mengatur waktu dan membagi kehidupan nyata dengan kehidupan di dalam game.
