Freya herself is an outstanding warrior. She can both attack and defend with her sword and shield, and at a critical moment in battle she can transform into a halberd and smash the enemy formation. The two main counters for her are Marksmen heroes and crowd control skills you just have to maintain your distance from her. Also, she is the only hero that can only be bought with diamonds.
