I was trying to explain to my son how big a game changer Wolfenstein and Quake were way back in the day. It is hard to image for him having not lived through it.

These were the big ones no doubt.

Maybe rhythm games and the re-introduction of virtual reality might be similar equivalents in a modern context. Microtransactions and pay to win are one of the many things that turn me off in modern gaming.

I used to think mobile gaming had some legs in the early days and that's mostly a wasteland now.
