After the success reached for the first two installments of this videogame’s saga, the name Tekken had become a world phenomenon as in the old arcade machines as in the PlayStation which was winning more popularity in its first years. After telling us the story of a family with a lot of troubles related with the leading of the powerful company “Mishima Zaibatsu”, the developer company “namco” was going to bring us another installment with some changes to make this videogame more interesting and innovative. Keeping the main idea of the first games and the essence of every character the people from “namco” knew how to implement every element in their favor to make the franchise take another path and not became in a boring and repetitive saga with a simple fight game at the first arcade machines style, they were going to make a difference with the game style that was going to be the perfect way to say god bye to the PlayStation before take the step and advance to the PlayStation 2. This is “Tekken 3”.
Tras el éxito alcanzado por las dos primeras entregas de esta saga de videojuegoa, el nombre “Tekken” se había convertido en un fenómeno mundial tanto en las antiguas máquinas “Arcade” como en la “PlayStation” que estaba ganando más popularidad en sus primeros años. Después de contarnos la historia de una familia con muchos problemas relacionados con el liderazgo de la poderosa compañía “Mishima Zaibatsu”, la empresa desarrolladora “namco” nos iba a traer otra entrega con algunos cambios para hacer más interesante e innovador este videojuego. Manteniendo la idea principal de los dos primeros y la esencia de cada personaje, la gente de “namco” supo implementar cada elemento a su favor para que la franquicia tomara otro camino y no se convirtiera en una saga aburrida y repetitiva con un simple juego de lucha. al estilo de las primeras máquinas “Arcade”, iban a marcar la diferencia con el estilo de juego que iba a ser la manera perfecta de decir adiós a la “PlayStation” antes de dar el paso y avanzar a la “PlayStation 2”. As in the previous Tekken games, we are going to have a considerably variety of characters that has their particularly story with some of them related, but the principal plot is going to be related to the Mishima family and all their story.
Como en los juegos anteriores de Tekken, vamos a tener una variedad considerable de personajes que tienen su historia particular con algunas de ellas relacionados, pero el tranvía principal va a estar relacionado con la familia Mishima y toda su historia.
At the beginning of the game we are going to see and old temple destroyed and also Heihachi, who had recovered the control of Mishima Zaibatsu in Tekken 2 arriving to the place with the new special team of the company, the “Tekken Force”, Heihachi had spent many years trying to find a source of power to become a more powerful fighter and leader, he had heard some rumors of a mysterious force that lives in some temples of Meso America which could help him with this mission. When he arrives to the place and start watching all destroyed by a mysterious beast, Heihachi confirms that the rumors were real and there is a mysterious force that can help him reach his objective. After this scene we can see a brief sequence when we are going to know the characters available at the beginning of this game. After the end of the last “King of the Iron Fist Tournament”, Jun Kazama is pregnant with a son of Kazuya Mishima who was defeated at the end of Tekken 2, she decides to raise the child alone and name him Jin Kazama. When Jin is fifteen years old, the mysterious beast that destroyed the old temple attacks him and his mother, Jin is knocked and when he wakes up, he discovers that his mother has disappeared, he is not really sure about what happened to her, but he imagines the worst and wants to take revenge. Jin decides to contact his grandfather Heihachi, explain him everything and ask him to teach him how to be a better fighter. After this, Heihachi assumes that Jin is talking about the mysterious beast that he had being looking for. Heihachi knows that the beast which is called Ogre and supposably is an alien entity which arrived to the earth (took a semi human form after killing and old man from an old temple), is looking for the bests fighters in the world to absorb their abilities and became more powerful. Heihachi figures up that Jin has good abilities to fight even when He needs a lot of training and thinks that he could use him as a good way to defeat Ogre. After four years of strong training, Heihachi thinks that Jin is ready to face Ogre and decides to organize the Third edition of the “King of the Iron Fist Tournament” with the idea that Jin defeats Ogre there. Jin arrives to the finals of the tournament defeating his own grandparent, in the other side, Ogre is defeated by Paul Phoenix and after this, Ogre revels his real form, becoming a bigger beast called True Ogre. Finally, Jin can defeat him and True Ogre disappear, without letting any rest. Heihachi finds up that he is not going to be able to use Ogre’s power and he is very disappointed, after all this He decides that Jin is not useful for him anymore and kills him with the help of the Tekken Force, but suddenly Jin wakes up as an evil creature thanks to the devil gene inherited from his mother, he attacks Heihachi and leaves the place flying, suggesting a new adventure coming soon with this new devil character. Besides being eliminated Heihachi keeps the control of Mishima Zaibatsu because neither Jin nor Paul claimed the leadership of the company.
Al comienzo del juego vamos a ver un antiguo templo destruido y también a Heihachi, quien había recuperado el control de Mishima Zaibatsu en Tekken 2 llegando al lugar con el nuevo equipo especial de la empresa, la “Tekken Force”, Heihachi. Había pasado muchos años tratando de encontrar una fuente de poder para convertirse en un luchador y líder más poderoso, había escuchado algunos rumores de una fuerza misteriosa que habita en algunos templos de Mesoamérica que lo podía ayudar en esta misión. Cuando llega al lugar y comienza a ver todo destruido por una misteriosa bestia, Heihachi confirma que los rumores eran reales y que hay una fuerza misteriosa que puede ayudarlo a alcanzar su objetivo. Tras esta escena podemos ver una breve secuencia en la que vamos a conocer los personajes disponibles al inicio de este juego. Después del final del último "Torneo del Rey del Puño de Hierro", Jun Kazama está embarazada de un hijo de Kazuya Mishima quien fue derrotado al final de Tekken 2, decide criar al niño sola y llamarlo Jin Kazama. Cuando Jin tiene quince años, la misteriosa bestia que destruyó el antiguo templo lo ataca a él y a su madre, Jin es golpeado y cuando se despierta, descubre que su madre ha desaparecido, no está realmente seguro de lo que le pasó, pero se imagina lo peor y quiere vengarse. Jin decide contactar a su abuelo Heihachi, explicarle todo y pedirle que le enseñe cómo ser un mejor luchador, por lo cual Heihachi deduce que Jin se refiere a la bestia que él había estado buscando. Heihachi sabe que la bestia que se llama Ogro y que supuestamente es una entidad alienígena que llegó a la tierra (tomó una forma semihumana después de matar a un anciano de un antiguo templo) y está buscando a los mejores luchadores del mundo para absorber sus habilidades y volverse más poderoso. Heihachi se da cuenta de que Jin tiene buenas habilidades para luchar incluso cuando necesita mucho entrenamiento y piensa que podría usarlo como una buena forma de derrotar a Ogre. Después de cuatro años de fuerte entrenamiento, Heihachi cree que Jin está listo para enfrentarse a Ogre y decide organizar la Tercera edición del “Torneo Rey del Puño de Hierro” con la idea de que Jin derrote a Ogre allí. Jin llega a las finales del torneo derrotando a su propio abuelo, en el otro lado, Ogre es derrotado por Paul Phoenix y luego, Ogre revela su forma real, convirtiéndose en una bestia más grande y poderosa llamada “True Ogre”. Finalmente, Jin puede derrotarlo y True Ogre desaparece, sin dejar rastro. The game offers us a classic fight style very popular from the old arcade machines, two characters face to face fighting each other. The principal game mode is the “Arcade mode” where we are going to start a trip facing many characters, we are going to go across seven stages before facing the last phase of the tournament when we face Jin and Heihachi (this first two can change depending of the character we select) until finally face Ogre and then True Ogre in the las fight. At the beginning of the game we are going to have ten character available to use, every time we finish the “Arcade mode” with a different character a new one is going to be unlocked, we are going to have nine characters to be unlocked in this mode and other two extra characters that can be won in others game styles. Every character has his own fight style and combos, some of them have some similar movements but each one has his specifics abilities that make the game very enjoyable because every character offer us a different experience at the time to fight, the mechanics of every character and the very good design offer us the possibility of use every fighter until the one hundred percent of their abilities. Every fighter is accompanied with a picturesque scenery and a good soundtrack related with every place that add a special condiment to the experience.
El juego nos ofrece un estilo de lucha clásico muy popular de las antiguas máquinas “Arcade”, dos personajes cara a cara luchando entre sí. El modo de juego principal es el “Arcade mode” donde vamos a iniciar un viaje enfrentándonos a muchos personajes, vamos a atravesar siete etapas antes de enfrentarnos a la última fase del torneo cuando nos enfrentemos a Jin y Heihachi (estos dos primeros pueden cambiar dependiendo del personaje que seleccionemos) hasta que finalmente nos enfrentamos a Ogre y luego a True Ogre en la última pelea. Al comienzo del juego vamos a tener diez personajes disponibles para usar, cada vez que terminemos el “Arcade mode” con un personaje diferente se desbloqueará uno nuevo, vamos a tener nueve personajes para desbloquear en este modo y otros dos personajes adicionales que se pueden ganar en otros estilos de juego. Cada personaje tiene su propio estilo de lucha y combos, algunos de ellos tienen algunos movimientos similares pero cada uno tiene sus habilidades específicas que hacen que el juego sea muy agradable porque cada personaje nos ofrece una experiencia diferente a la hora de luchar, las mecánicas de cada personaje, su muy buen diseño nos ofrece la posibilidad de utilizar a cada luchador a él cien por ciento de sus habilidades. Todo luchador va acompañado de un paisaje pintoresco y una buena banda sonora relacionada con cada lugar que le da un condimento especial a la experiencia.

Of course, we are going to have many other game modes to spend the time spreading punches everywhere. There is going to be the classic “Vs Mode” where we could face our enemy in individuals fights one vs one and also, we are going to have a score to know which contester has won more fights. There is also another great mode called “Team battle mode” where we can choose our team of fighters and challenge another team, we can use teams since one to eight members. We can enjoy these modalities alone against the CPU or with a friend which make the experience way funnier spending time with many friends.
Por su puesto, vamos a tener muchos otros modos de juego para pasar el tiempo repartiendo golpes por todas partes. Estará el clásico “Vs Mode” donde podremos enfrentarnos a nuestro enemigo en peleas individuales uno contra uno, además, vamos a tener una puntuación para saber qué competidor ha ganado más peleas. También hay otro gran modo llamado “Team battle mode” donde podemos elegir nuestro equipo de luchadores y desafiar a otro equipo, podemos usar equipos desde uno hasta ocho miembros. Podemos disfrutar de estas modalidades solos contra la CPU o con un amigo lo que hace que la experiencia sea mucho más divertida pasando tiempo con muchos amigos.

Another great addition to this game was the “Tekken Force Mode” where we are going to have an adventure modality going through four levels facing a lot of enemies from the “Tekken Force”, they are going to be appearing as soon we advance in the level trying to stop us, we could use every character we want in this adventure where we could face a final boss at the end of every zone. If we complete the four sceneries defeating all the enemies, we are going to win a key that will help us to unlock a secret character called Dr. Bosconovitch, when we collect three keys, we could face the Dr. and finally unlock him and enjoy him as a playable character.
Otra gran adición a este juego fue el “Tekken Force Mode” donde vamos a tener una modalidad de aventura pasando por cuatro niveles enfrentándonos a una gran cantidad de enemigos de la “Tekken Force”, que van a ir apareciendo en cuanto avancemos en el nivel tratando de detenernos, vamos a poder usar todos los personajes que queramos en esta aventura donde nos enfrentaremos a un jefe final al terminar de cada zona. Si completamos los cuatro escenarios derrotando a todos los enemigos, vamos a ganar una llave que nos ayudará a desbloquear un personaje secreto llamado Dr. Bosconovitch, cuando recolectemos tres llaves, enfrentaremos al Dr. para finalmente desbloquearlo y disfrutar de él como personaje jugable.

We can also enjoy the “Survival mode”, where we can select one character and have many fights against the rest of the characters and try to defeat them suffering the lest damage possible because this one is going to be accumulative, we are going to face enemies until we lost a fight and we are going to stablish a new record that we can try to overcome latter.
También podemos disfrutar del “Survival mode”, donde podemos seleccionar un personaje y tener muchas peleas contra el resto de personajes e intentar vencerlos sufriendo el menor daño posible porque este va a ser acumulativo, nos vamos a enfrentar a enemigos hasta perder una pelea y de esta manera establecer una nueva mara que podemos intentar superar luego.

A very funny modality added in this game was the “Tekken ball mode” where we are going to be in a beach facing our enemies in battles with a volleyball style, we are going to play with a ball and use our attacks in it, every time we make a point in our enemies’ field they are going to suffer damage, this is a great and very funny modality that can be useful to use the attacks and abilities of our character in a totally different way while we challenge the CPU or our friends.
Una modalidad muy divertida añadida en este juego fue el “Tekken ball mode” donde vamos a estar en una playa enfrentándonos a nuestros enemigos en batallas con estilo de voleibol, vamos a jugar con una pelota y usar nuestros ataques en ella, cada vez que hacemos un punto en el campo de nuestro enemigo, este va a sufrir daños, esta es una modalidad genial y muy divertida que puede ser útil para usar los ataques y habilidades de nuestros personajes de una manera totalmente diferente mientras desafiamos la CPU o nuestro amigos.

Every time we finish the “Arcade mode” with a different character, we could enjoy a cinematic related with the story of this character. There is also the possibility to access to the movie theater where we can enjoy every cinematic of all the characters without need of finishing the “Arcade Mode”, we’ll just have to finish this mode with every character and their respective movie is going to be available to be enjoyed every time we want.
Cada vez que terminamos el “Arcade mode” con un personaje diferente, podemos disfrutar de una cinemática relacionada con la historia de este personaje. También existe la posibilidad de acceder a la sala de cine donde podremos disfrutar de cada cinemática de todos los personajes sin necesidad de terminar el “Arcade mode”, solo tendremos que terminar este modo con cada personaje y su respectiva película va a estar disponible para disfrutarlo cada vez que queramos.

In conclusion, “Tekken 3” is a great fight game that keep the essence of an old fight game from the old Arcade machines, that knew how to repeat the formula that make so popular the first two installments, but at the same time offered us a totally different adventure accompanied with a great story that follows the main idea of the familiar fight for the company, but renewed it with the addition of new characters in the scene, a great fight dynamic, diversity of characters and fight styles that can be enjoyable in many levels since the simplest combo until the most elaborated combination of punches and kicks. It also knew how to add other modalities to avoid the game became boring or repetitive while we spent hours perfectionating our techniques, stablishing new scores, unlocking the new characters or facing our friends in one of the multiple battle styles in this legendary game that mix the best from the classics fights and an entertainment story that can capture our attention and make us investigate this great adventure that offered one of the most popular games that has come from this saga.
En conclusión, “Tekken 3” es un gran juego de lucha que mantiene la esencia de un viejo juego de lucha de las antiguas máquinas Arcade, que supo repetir la fórmula que hizo tan populares las dos primeras entregas, pero a la vez nos ofreció una aventura totalmente diferente acompañada de una gran historia que sigue la idea principal de la lucha familiar por la empresa, pero la renovó con la incorporación de nuevos personajes en la escena, una gran dinámica de lucha, diversidad de personajes y estilos de lucha que se pueden disfrutar en muchos niveles desde el combo más simple hasta la combinación más elaborada de puñetazos y patadas. También supo agregar otras modalidades para evitar que el juego se volviera aburrido o repetitivo mientras pasábamos horas perfeccionando nuestras técnicas, estableciendo nuevas puntuaciones, desbloqueando a los nuevos personajes o enfrentándonos a nuestros amigos en uno de los múltiples estilos de batalla de este mítico juego que mezcla lo mejor de las peleas clásicas y una historia entretenida que puede captar nuestra atención y hacernos investigar esta gran aventura que nos ofreció uno de los juegos más populares que ha salido de esta saga.
