Our Search for Elytra and Shulker Boxes after killing Ender Dragon

in Hive Gaminglast month

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

Did you read the post where I talked about how we defeated the Ender Dragon? If not, go check that first and then come back to this one. In this post, I’ll share what happened after we killed the Ender Dragon in the End dimension.

Since we were already in the End and had beaten the dragon, it was time to explore and get two important items: Elytra and Shulker shells. On these floating islands, there are special structures that contain a mob called the Shulker. They drop Shulker shells, which can be used to craft Shulker boxes. These boxes are some of the best items in the game because they make inventory management so much easier.

Unlike other chests, Shulker boxes keep their items when broken. This means we can carry a lot more stuff in our inventory.

At first, the End island looks like nothing but a void all around. But that’s not the case—there are many islands out there. The only problem is that they can be thousands of blocks away. That’s why you need to throw a pearl into the mysterious portal block.

That block teleports you to another End island. Using Ender pearls in this game is a bit glitchy, though—sometimes they pass right through, and we almost died because of that bug. But eventually it worked, and we made it onto a new island.

This is where our search for Elytra and End ships began. We didn’t realise it would take us hours to find them.

We did find some purple floating platforms, which had Shulkers and a few chests with some of the best loot in the game, including enchanted diamond gear. Shulkers spawned quite often, too, so we gathered plenty of shells to craft Shulker boxes.

But End ships? That was another story. I knew what they looked like in Minecraft, and since this game is a clone, I expected them to be in similar spots.

The End dimension is full of Endermen, so pearls weren’t a problem. But because of how buggy they were, we didn’t rely on them. Instead, we slowly bridged across gaps, hoping we wouldn’t fall into the void. Falling into the void is the worst kind of death in Minecraft—you lose everything with no way to recover it.

There was no shortage of those purple platforms, though. We looted many, collected loads of Shulker shells, and picked up plenty of diamond tools and armour along the way.

The End ships turned out to be much rarer than we thought. We found our first one only after travelling thousands of blocks—and surprisingly, it wasn’t floating above the islands but hidden underneath them. We weren’t expecting that, so spotting it took even longer.

Now the real challenge: how do we reach and loot them? Jumping was way too risky—you could easily fall straight into the void. So we came up with a plan. We placed water on the ship and used it as an elevator to go up and down safely. To our surprise, it worked perfectly.

That’s how we found our first Elytra. This item lets you glide and even fly with rockets. But we didn’t bring rockets with us (big mistake), so we still had to walk to the next ship. And we couldn’t just stop at one—we needed two Elytras.

Finding the second ship took even longer. And while I was bridging between two islands, my finger slipped off the shift key for just a second. That was enough. I fell into the void, losing all my gear. I even logged off mid-fall, hoping a water trick might save me, but it was too late.

I lost my fully enchanted diamond armour, tools, and weapons. Thankfully, we had put the Elytra in an Ender chest, so it was safe. We had also prepared for something like this and kept backup armour and tools in the chest. After about half an hour, I managed to return, and we carried on. We looted two more ships, but by then we were exhausted and had to stop.

When we finally used the portal back to the Overworld, the credits started rolling (very slowly, lol). It was my first time seeing the credit scene in this game—Voxelibre, which used to be called Mineclone 2.

On the way back home, we spotted a couple of good horses. So we tamed them and rode home like knights. Think about it—we went on foot, defeated the Ender Dragon, looted magical floating ships, grabbed tons of loot, and then returned like knights on horseback. What an adventure it was... one of the best gaming experiences in a simple game like this.

It's been a long time since I saw these improved armors with the new mineral, and I still love that texture pack they are using, the pixels of the weapons look much cleaner, one of the things I liked when they updated the END, are the floating ships, they look great

Yeah, that update was nice. I still believe that End could be further improved with a wood-type tree and some more structures. It would be really cool.
