Sky Islands Survival – Exploring the Fortress and Unlocking the End

in Hive Gaming5 days ago

In the last episode of Sky Islands Survival Series, we found the remaining islands in the overworld, including an ocean-themed island where we fished for a while, and a cherry tree with bamboo. We found a couple of cows and started our cow farm on our base island.

In this post, I will tell you what happened next. While the overworld was fully explored with no new island to find, we still had to find the Nether Fortress island. Luckily, we saw it already from our Crimson Forest island. But it didn't look that easy.

It was time to make a safe bridge to that island. We could see Blazes spawning in on the Nether Fortress. It was a small nether fortress, sitting on top of a small island surrounded by a pool of lava. There were a lot of striders in that pool.

I noticed a lot of zombified piglins spawning on this island. This made me build a small farm right inside one of the columns of the Nether Fortress. It worked exceptionally well. I didn't expect it to run that well. You can see that for the first time, I had more than 50 levels of experience in this world. The sweeping edge, looting 3 sword that we got earlier from one of the islands in the overworld, was helping a lot.

We entered the Nether Fortress and found numerous chests. We were looking for special items like diamonds, netherite and most importantly, the upgrade template. We found them, but there were fewer diamonds than we expected in this place.

These chests were not your typical fortresses' loot chests but custom chests full of loot. We were here to get the blaze rods as well. These were one of the most important items in any Minecraft run.

We already had stacks of enderpearls from the Warped forest island we found earlier. The Endermen farm was working fine to give us a lot of pearls. Killing blazes didn't take longer than either. We used the rat strategy again and dug a small tunnel close to the spawner. These blazes will come from a small hole, and that's how we safely killed them. With our inventories full of items, we went back to the overworld.

I used my Ghast to roam around in the overworld. It is a slow but very effective method of transportation. I like how you can fit up to 4 people on top of it.

Anyway, with the blaze rods and ender pearls from the nether, we crafted them to make the eye of Ender. Thankfully, we didn't have to make extra to find the stronghold. The portal was just on an island next to ours. We found it very early in our playthrough.

I spent all my levels on enchantments. One of the most important ones I was looking for was infinity on my bow, and I got it after a few tries. As a bonus, I even got flame with it. That Ender Dragon better be hiding now.

It was time to open the portal to the End dimension. The mysterious end dimension, where we have to fight the main boss of Minecraft, the Ender Dragon. But before jumping into this portal, we need to make some more preparations.

Brewing some potions will be helpful when fighting against the dragon, especially potions like Slow Falling or Strength.

Join us next time as we enter the mysterious portal and free the End from the claws of the Ender Dragon.

Thanks for reading.

Until next island...

I used to play Minecraft a lot years ago, and after years of not playing it again, when I downloaded it on my phone I realized that it has improved and changed in many ways... I'm still a big fan of what Minecraft has always been and what it represents.
