NBA 2K20 Android Controller support review!(video)

in Hive Gaming3 years ago

Okay, I admit I'm late to the party but I never knew you could play NBA 2K20 with a controller on Android/iPhone until recently!

As a basketball lover I usually have a basketball game on every device I own, the mobile version for when I'm out of the house and have some time to spare. I used to play and enjoy this game in 2020/21 before I switched to the iPhone, especially when I'm out in transit or sitting idle somewhere.

This recent finding was so exciting for me and luckily I already own Xbox controllers. I couldn't wait to try it out. In this post I'll be sharing my experience playing with the controller, the good and the bad.

Overall I enjoyed the experience and I'm still in awe of how far technology has come though everything seems pretty normal now.

You can use any bluetooth enabled controller once it is already paired with your phone but I'll recommend dedicated mobile game controllers with a built in holder for a better experience.

Below is a video of my quick match gameplay on a Samsung note 10+ with a Snapdragon 855 chip. Enjoy.

So after some gameplay, here's what I think...not to be a pessimist but I'll talk about the bad first, because it sticks out first.

The Bad

No interface Support
Doesn't that just suck 😃? The controller only works for gameplay but can't be used to navigate the game, you have to do all that as usual. It will definitely be a much better experience if we get full functionality.

Latency
It's almost unnoticeable and I'm nitpicking here to be honest, I did notice a slight delay in responsiveness compared to when I played with the touch controls. This shouldn't be much of a problem though.

The Good!

Console like experience
Playing with a controller does give you more freedom and control, almost like playing on a console or PC. Although the moves and functionalities are not as buff as the console experience, it is still very enjoyable and basic moves are pretty much the same.

As a bonus to this, you can connect to a larger display using an HDMI converter cable for a much better experience.

Less distractions on Screen
The touch controls do take up quite some screen real estate that often interfere with your total view of the court, this problem is automatically solved in controller mode.

Look at all those controls...

Overall, I enjoyed using the controller much better, I can't wait to see how well it is integrated in later versions.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you had fun reading this. Please share your thoughts or ask questions in the comments. I'll be happy to share.
