I had the exact same experience as you with the first two games. I played Torchlight 1 to death and what a game it what and is. I've played it several times since with and without mods. Torchlight 2 didn't really bring me much and I doubt that Torchlight 3 will either. What made it special to me was the endless delving down into the dungeon. When we got the open world that wasn't part of it anymore and I think that's what disappointed me. I'm glad you're having a good time with it though!

My partner had the same experience also! Torchlight 2 just wasn't as enjoyable for most people I know and talk to. I'm not sure what it was for me though; I personally love a more open-world environment but it just seemed lacklustre, not as appealing, not as fun.
Judging by the reviews, a lot of people aren't really feeling this one either! 😅
