Por esa razón, a partir de ahora, seré más inclusivo y empezaré a compartir revisiones de juegos que puedan ser jugados desde un smartphone — de esa forma, las personas que tengan un teléfono de gama media podrán deleitarlos también...
Así que empecemos: Al ser el primer mobile review, quise probar un juego que estuviera a la altura de las circunstancias. Luego de varios intentos fallidos, encontré un diamante en bruto. El título se llama Forgotten Memories; un videojuego con una perspectiva en tercera persona en el que exploraremos entornos lúgubres, tenebrosos y aterradores, mientras luchamos contra criaturas de pesadilla – mezclando acción, exploración, sigilo y supervivencia; todo lo que un buen «survival horror» necesita.
Forgotten Memories es el primer y único videojuego desarrollado por la compañía Psychose Interactive. En 2015 el pequeño estudio Canadiense anuncio que el juego iba a ser distribuido en PC, Wii U, Android, IOS y PS Vita, sin embargo, el título solo estuvo disponible el 25 de abril de ese año en Android. Actualmente están trabajando en un remake para la consola Nintendo Switch.
Dato curioso: el juego está clasificado en la Play Store como un shooter, siendo este un survival...
Good morning, dear platform brothers. I'm fully aware that many members of the HIVE Gaming community (including myself) don't have the money to buy a super "setup" or buy a next generation console to enjoy games that offer quality and AAA experience.
For that reason, from now on, I will be more inclusive and start sharing reviews of games that can be played from a smartphone — That way, people who have a mid-range phone can also delight them...
So, let's get started: Being the first mobile review, I wanted to play a game that lived up to the circumstances. After several failed attempts, I found a diamond in the rough. The title is called Forgotten Memories; a third-person perspective videogame in which we will explore gloomy, dark and terrifying environments, while fighting nightmare creatures — mix of action, exploration, stealth and survival; everything a good «survival horror» needs.
Forgotten Memories is the first and only video game developed by the Psychose Interactive company. In 2015, the small Canadian studio announced that the game would be distributed on PC, Wii U, Android, IOS and PS Vita, however, the title was only available on April 25 of that year on Android. They are currently working on a remake for the Nintendo Switch console.
Fun fact: the game is classified on the Play Store as a shooting game, this being a survival...
ARGUMENTO
En esta entrega estaremos en los zapatos de la señorita Rose Hawkins; una inspectora encargada de la división juvenil del departamento de policía de Massachusetts que, después de la desaparición de una pequeña niña llamada Edén, decide emprender una vendetta personal. Luego de varias semanas de pistas y declaraciones de posibles testigos, la investigación la conduce hasta un viejo y abandonado asilo al norte del país. En el camino es interceptada y herida de gravedad; y como consecuencia queda inconsciente. Al despertar todo lo que recordará será a un hombre apuntándola con un arma y disparándole, sin razón aparente. Ahora, para poder salvar a la pequeña Edén, primero tendrá que salvar su propia vida...
ARGUMENT
In this game we will be in Miss Rose Hawkins' shoes; an inspector in charge of the youth division of the Massachusetts police department who, after the disappearance of a girl named Edén, decides to take revenge personally. After several weeks of clues and statements from possible witnesses, the investigation leads her to an old and abandoned asylum in the north of the country. Along the way she is intercepted and seriously injured; and as a consequence faints. Upon awakening, all she will remember will be a man pointing a gun at her and shooting, for no apparent reason. Now, to save little Edén, you will first have to save your own life...
JUGABILIDAD
Desde el primer momento es posible observar la influencia que tuvo el primer Silent Hill (el de 1999) en este juego. Su mecánica de progresión buscando pistas, explorando entornos, y reproduciendo viejas cintas de voz que estarán dispersas en el mapa con el objetivo de esclarecer los misterios de la narrativa, es muy propio del juego de Konami. — Por eso lo considero un sucesor espiritual muy bien cualificado, por cierto.
Forgotten Memories solo tiene una modalidad de juego: el modo campaña. El apartado de los controles es muy sencillo, y lo dividiremos en 3 partes:
- Lado izquierdo: de este lado de la pantalla tendremos un stick virtual de desplazamiento que servirá para movernos a través del mapa; También tendremos un botón de configuraciones que servirá para ajustar la iluminación, el sonido, los FPS, y otros valores.
- Lado derecho: de este lado de la pantalla tendremos un stick virtual que servirá para mover la cámara; el botón del inventario en la esquina superior, y también el de correr y disparar.
- Central: En el parte superior central tendremos un botón que servirá para apagar y encender la linterna; y en la parte inferior central aparecerá un signo de exclamación cuando estemos cerca de un elemento con el que podemos interactuar. (gabinetes, puerta, recortes, entre otros).
GAMEPLAY
From the first moment it's possible to observe the influence that the first Silent Hill (that of 1999) had on this game. Its mechanics of progression in search of clues, exploring environments and playing old voice tapes that will be scattered on the map in order to clarify the mysteries of the narrative, is very typical of the Konami game. — For that reason, I consider this game to be a very well-qualified spiritual successor.
Forgotten Memories only has one game mode: campaign mode. The controls section is very simple, and I will divide it into 3 parts:
- Left side: on this side of the screen we will have a virtual stick that will serve to move through the map; We will also have a settings button that will be used to adjust the lighting, sound, FPS, and other values.
- Right side: on this side of the screen we will have a virtual stick that will be used to move the camera; the inventory button in the top corner, and also the run and shoot button.
- Central: in the upper central part we will have a button that will be used to turn the flashlight on and off; and an exclamation point will appear in the lower central part when we are near an element with which we can interact. (cabinets, doors, cutouts, among others).
GRÁFICOS Y SONIDO
El juego tiene un apartado gráfico con una calidad exquisita. También es importante mencionar que cuenta con bastantes parámetros configurables: Luces dinámicas, para calcular con precisión en donde impacta y rebota la luz; aberración cromática, para simular el efecto de VHS y RGB que está presente en todo el juego; el Anti-aliasing, para difuminar los dientes de sierra que surgen al renderizar la imagen; motion blur, cantidad de FPS presente, y muchas cosas más. En conjunto, la ambientación consigue dar una capa de realismo que cumple su prometido — hacernos sentir inmersos en su narrativa.
me atrevo a decir que es uno de los mejores videojuegos del género survival horror para Android.
En cuanto a los efectos de sonido, Forgotten Memories no tiene nada que envidiar a los grandes juegos de consola. Cuenta con un apartado sonoro envolvente, que genera una experiencia única al disfrutarlo con audífonos o auriculares, generando la sensación de que los sonidos se expanden a nuestro alrededor — muy típico de los juegos que poseen un audio ambisónico.
Hay momentos en donde solo con el sonido estarás temblando de miedo.
ejemplo: cuando se escuchan los susurros y los pasos detrás de ti.
GRAPHICS AND SOUND
The game has a graphic section with exquisite quality. It's also important to mention that it has many configurable parameters: Dynamic lights, to accurately calculate where light bounces; chromatic aberration, to simulate the effect of VHS and RGB that is present throughout the game; Anti-aliasing, to blur the saw teeth; Motion blur, amount of FPS present, and more. In general, the environment manages to create a layer of realism that makes us feel immersed in its narrative.
I dare say that it's one of the best video games of the survival horror genre for Android.
When it comes to sound effects, Forgotten Memories has nothing to envy great console games. It has a surround sound section, which generates a unique experience when enjoyed with headphones or earphones, generating the sensation that sounds are expanding around us. — very typical of games that have ambisonic audio.
There are times when only with the sound you will be trembling with fear.
Example: When you hear the whispers and footsteps behind you.
CONCLUSIÓN
La única crítica que tengo hacia este maravilloso titulo, es que pudieron haber desarrollado más la historia con algunas cinemáticas, pero en general, el juego cumple con lo que ofrece: una experiencia angustiante fácil de controlar desde tu smartphone.
Si estás cansado de jugar los típicos juegos de carreras, shooters, rompecabezas, y te interesa una entrega más terrorífica, este juego es una gran opción...
Siempre acompañado del incesante temor de ser descubiertos...
CONCLUSION
The only criticism I have is that they could have developed the story even further with some cinematic scenes, but overall, the game does what it offers: a heartbreaking experience that's easy to control from your smartphone.
If you are tired of playing typical racing, shooters and puzzles games; and are interested in a more terrifying title, this game is a great option...
Always accompanied by the incessant fear of not knowing what would happen ...
