What's wrong with the world of video games that continue to make so many mistakes, greetings dear community this post is aimed at a reflection on the buyers of video games, you happen that you are excited for the release of your expected game, you get the downloads install and boom the game has a lot of bugs and glitches that ruin the experience, but if I spent 70 dollars for a game AAA why is going wrong?
I don't want to sound like the typical old man that says everything before was better, but it's the absolute truth, a video game was reviewed several times before coming out, I'm talking about up to the PS3 and XBOX 360 generation, I don't want you to confuse the terms, one thing is a bad game, and another thing is a ROTO game, a bad video game, is one that through its mechanics, narrative, graphics does not convince you for various reasons, the content is repetitive, the mechanics are very old, or the graphics are bad or even that the story is poorly told.
While a ROTTEN game, is that you encounter bugs within the programming, which takes you out of the game experience or simply doesn't allow you to progress, I always remember when I played a title thinking of a way in which my game would be ruined in such a way that I couldn't advance further in the story, like killing an important NPC or getting stuck in some part of the stage, but that was very complicated before.

This practice of releasing video games without testing them enough, has become something that all users tolerate, one of the clearest examples currently is the release of Calixto Protocol and Pokémon scarlet and purple which have an overwhelming number of bugs, always the response of the developers is that they will come out with some patches that will fix the game, just as it happened with Cyber Punk 2077, but is it right that we are throwing a coin toss every time we buy a AAA game? These games should have full content, tested and reviewed by several testers to ensure that it works properly, in programming this is known as alpha and beta testing.
In the best-case scenario after 2 years, they fix the game you bought, in the worst-case scenario the game goes so bad that it is simply abandoned completely and we lose our money, maybe many gamers like to gamble to see if this game works or not, but I definitely think the development process should be longer before rushing and releasing an unfinished product without testing.
- The Elder Ring.
- God of War Ragnarot.
- Horizon Forbidden West.
- Bayonetta 3
- kirby and the forgotten land
Here's a list of games that I recommend that were released in their entirety at launch.

In the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 days pre-orders were a big thing. Pre-order bonuses, limited supply of games per shop, pre-order parties. It was a bit of a trend but the important part was that the companies were receiving money before the game was even out! And because we were in a age of online consoles the developers could fix or tweak the game even after launch.
So then it became 'Sell first, fix later.' and overworking developers to get a rough finish of a game before starting on the next one. So that's part of the reason why some games release 'broken'.
As for bad game design, well it just depends on studios and the project leads working on the title. Lots of 'bad game design' are sometimes a starting block for a better design in another studio title. Perhaps they wanted to see how it would work and be implemented while also receiving feedback from the players.
The 'Day 1 patches' and unfinished messes are the main reason why I quit pre-ordering. Promising money to somebody only to receive half a product feels like a scam.
Thank you for an interesting post. I like your 'Bad game, Broken game' image!
Yeah my 5 year old drawing hahaha the important thing is that it's original, well you're right basically it's become part of the industry that games are released unfinished at many points, but the dangerous thing about this practice is that they might never finish fixing them.
