Excitebike Review - A fun and unique racing classic

During the decade of the 80s, a lot of awesome racing games were released for the NES, among which Excitebike stood out, a title with nothing to envy from any other in the genre.

The goal of the game is pretty simple; we must finish the race by breaking the time records of our rivals. The thing is that doing it is not an easy task, besides colliding with the other racers; the main dangers are the obstacles in the tracks that come our way as we go as fast as we can to be the winners.

But the biggest charm of this game lies not only in avoiding the competitors, but as in many other similar games, we can’t overwork the engine of our bike when we use the turbo mode; if you take it too far, your machine will overheat and you will be forced to wait for a while, and this will result in a waste of valuable time.

Another interesting aspect is that we can control the inclination of our bike, to jump better over the obstacles, gain speed in the air and land with style to avoid a dangerous fall that could leave us in the dust. When this happens, it‘s really fun to watch your character rushing to his vehicle: to help him, we can press the buttons several times so he moves faster.

These elements make this game a really singular experience in which we run, avoid and jump. Besides, we also have the option of editing our own racing circuits, with as many obstacles as we want.

In conclusion, this game is still as fun as when I played as a child, despite the simplicity of the races, the game offers challenges that are satisfactory to accomplish. That’s why I recommend it as much as the other classics that I’ve spoken about in previous posts.

Anyway, that’s all people, now I would like to know: what do you guys think? 😎

I play this a lot in my childhood with my cousin brother. So many amazing memories. This was one of our go to games!

I also played it a lot as a kid. It is an unforgettable game.
