After the incredible amount of bad reviews, Sony had no choice other than revert their decision. I'm glad that the users won this time.

I think it is just a matter of time before they try it again though. Similar to Microsoft locking physical media to each individual console and how they backtracked but we end up with digital only consoles (no way to share your games, effectively what MS tried just slightly different).
Sony certainly woke a lot of gamers up with this fiasco.
