Battlefield 6 - I Didn't Like Battlefield, But the Beta Made Me Put In 20 Hours [ENG/ESP]

On August 7 I was lucky enough to get a code for the beta of Battlefield 6. And I say "lucky" because while anyone could get one by watching a stream on twitch for 30 minutes or 1 hour, I read many people complaining about not receiving it despite taking much longer. The funny thing about all this is that, my intention was simply to test the beta to see the performance, I was curious about how my PC would behave with the game, that's why the first day I only played for about 1 hour and closed the game when I saw that it worked pretty well.

However, that same night I was bored, I felt like playing something, but I didn't want to get into a long game with story and all that, so taking advantage that I had the beta, I decided to play a few games even though I've never been a fan of this kind of games. My intention was to play a short game to kill the boredom, but I ended up playing about 4 hours and when I finished, I went to sleep thinking that the next day I wanted to play more.

I don't know how to explain it, but the game feels great. It's hilarious to run around the maps and see that there's a giant tank in the middle of the city shooting at a platoon of 12 or 20 enemies, it's great, it feels like a large scale battle, but with real players and not npcs. Running through the corridors trying to flank and kill opponents from behind, all of that got me more and more hooked, even though I found it hard to kill as I've never been particularly good at shooters.

In the beta there were several classes, medic, engineer, assault and recon. And although you can use any weapon you want with each of them, what differentiates them are certain special abilities and some tools, for example; the medic had a defibrillator to quickly revive teammates, while the recon had an ability to mark enemies on the map. Personally I started using the medic, but I always forgot I had those tools and never revived my teammates haha.

By the second day of the beta I started to improve. I had already understood (more or less) the rhythm of the game, I was no longer standing still trying to aim and most importantly, I was using more of the available tools to help the squad. I also understood that the weapons could be improved, avoiding a lot of recoil and making it easier to aim well.

Although there were several game modes in the beta, the ones I played the most were conquest, where we were 64 players (32 VS 32) and the objective was to capture several points and keep them to deplete the enemy's bar. In this mode the maps were large and you could see vehicles like tanks, cars and even helicopters depending on the map.

6.jpg

And then there was the domination mode, where there were 16 players (8 VS 8) and the games were faster, lasting around 10 minutes. The objective was the same, to capture points and keep them, but on a smaller map, which forced constant confrontations with the enemy team. I liked this mode mainly because being smaller maps, I could use more the shotgun, of which I became a fan.

The first beta ended on August 11, but on the 14th came the second one that would last the whole weekend, until the 17th. The second one brought new things like a new map and new game modes, but in general it's more or less the same as the first one. In total I played about 20 hours and was very satisfied. Although I won't compare the game when it comes out, since I'm not a fan of the genre, but I'm glad I gave the beta a chance. Honestly, I didn't understand why people got so excited about these types of games; to me they all seemed the same and even boring. However, I now know that they can be quite fun. And although I played alone at all times, I guess if you play with a group of friends the experience is even better.

I was watching some clips of the game the other day, and it looks cool. It seems like they optimised the game well for PC too, which is a good change from the recent trash we have been seeing that runs horribly on even the best cards on the market. I have played Battlefield V, even though I don't like this genre much; it was still fun. This looks even better with all the destruction you can have.

It is very important to take the time to optimize. Lately, companies are not doing this work and end up forcing consumers to invest in better PCs when there could easily be a much better solution.

Honestly, before playing I had seen images and trailers and thought it would work terribly for me because it looks too good, and if something looks good, it usually requires a NASA-level PC these days. But I'm glad I was wrong. You can have a good gaming experience in terms of both quality and performance with PCs that are considered “underpowered” today.

NASA-level PC 🤣. I wish I had one like that.

Good to see EA doing a good job with the performance.

How cool are those games that you try out but end up getting hooked on? You stepped out of your comfort zone to try something new, and even though it's not what you usually like, because it's so well done, you spent a few hours playing it and were able to gather material to share here. Thank you very much for this. I found it very interesting, as I hadn't heard about it anywhere else.

Absolutely. It even made me consider buying it when it comes out, but I decided against it. Maybe in the future, if I see it on offer and it looks good haha.

Yes, that sounds good to me. Better wait for an offer, I have no doubt it will come. Have a good week, my friend, I look forward to seeing more of your great posts.

Good game, it shows that you are very experienced in this game, I don't play many of these style, but I know that they are very fun, I once played one on my phone, but now I don't even have time to use it XD

The game looks superb, unfortunately I haven't been able to play the beta. It seems that Electronic Arts has finally decided to release a good game after years.
