RE: Seriously old-school gaming

in Hive Gaminglast year

Well I can say this wasn't my generation at all. It's crazy to see how far we've come when it comes to games to video games.

I might be a bit older than a lot of the people that talk about this sort of stuff but one of the things that I appreciate about my personal gaming history is that I was there when it all began

Didn't expect you to be that old :P I always thought you were younger

Sort:

nah, i'm not. But I'm quite happy to be the age that I am. I got to see the real life changes of gaming as it was happening. Plus, we can't change our age just our mindset!

oooo this is a great mindset to have. That's why it's crazy and impressive when you see those that are older and still seem young. Like I saw a 80+ year old granny doing dancing on americas got talent and what not etc and this dancing was not slow. Well for me I'm not too excited to age. I still want to enjoy and work towards accomplishing some life goals and feel like I lived a productive meaningful and impactful life wooo

I saw a blurb the other day about how one of the most popular gaming channels is the 80 year old woman who plays Elder Scrolls and is actually pretty good at it. I've not watched any of them but I can see how people would find that endearing.

Yes I know about that lady! That's what is amazing you can be old and still play video games :D. Or even old games are still running like tetris and the way they play is always cool to watch how a simple game has all these tactics and skills lol

I like old games sometimes but for the most part I think if you have a good memory of an old game it might be best to leave it in your memories and not go back and play it. For example, I really loved Phatasy Star 2 and 3 so I went back to revisit them with a Genesis emulator. I could only stand it for about an hour before I was questioning why it is that I ever liked those games to begin with. A lot changes in 30 years!

lol that's how I feel when i play league of legends. I play it then I wonder why I Play it because it's just toxic :D but then i keep going back. but what about games like pokemon? I don't think I would ever feel that way towards pokemon cause it was super fun then and I still think it's fun now. Even super smash, I'd still play it on gamecube if I owned one still and I think many still play it. Even classic tetris has a lot of newer generation people playing it despite being so old . I think it really depends on the game?

Absolutely, Age of Empires 2 and Starcraft are a couple of games that are 30 years old that I still enjoy and have a pretty huge following even to this day.
