¡Hola a todos! Hace unas semanas atrás comenté que estaba en mis planes realizar varios fanarts de mapas de videojuegos que marcaron mi infancia o que simplemente me gustasen mucho. Fue algo que inicié como una práctica y que al finalizar con mi primer mapa, tanto el proceso como el resultado, me agradaron tanto que decidà continuar. No soy lo que se pueda considerar una gamer, ya que no puedo dedicarle a los videojuegos, el tiempo que quisiera. Pero, me fascinan los Rpgs, no sólo por su temática de juegos, sino por lo bien elaborados de sus mapas (que en ocasiones, pueden tener lugares ocultos, esa es mi parte favorita).
Hello everyone! A few weeks ago I commented that it was in my plans to make several fanarts of video game maps that marked my childhood or that I simply liked a lot. It was something that I started as a practice and when I finished with my first map, I liked both the process and the result so much that I decided to continue. I'm not what can be considered a gamer, since I can't dedicate as much time to video games as I would like. But, I am fascinated by Rpgs, not only because of their gaming theme, but also because of how well-crafted their maps are (which can sometimes have hidden places, that's my favorite part).
Para esta ocasión, escogà una sección del mapa de Super Mario World que me pareció sencilla para no complicarme la existencia. Además, dado que el mapa completo es algo extenso, me llamó la atención la idea de irlo haciendo por partes, asà me podrÃa dedicar a cada parte sin tanto problema (y mi espacio de trabajo es algo pequeño como para buscar pintar en un lienzo más grande je je). Básicamente, esta es la imagen que tomé de referencia:
For this occasion, I chose a section of the Super Mario World map that seemed simple to me so as not to complicate my existence. In addition, since the complete map is somewhat extensive, the idea of ​​doing it in parts caught my attention, so I could dedicate myself to each part without much problem (and my workspace is somewhat small to try to paint on a larger canvas). big heh heh). Basically, this is the image I took for reference:
Para comenzar, elaboré el boceto del mapa a grafito. No me enfoqué en darle tantos detalles, dado que la mayorÃa de los trazos se pierden con la pintura, eso y que como esto es también una actividad para desestresarme, busco de simplemente dibujar sin buscarle tantas complicaciones (si, aún estoy aprendiendo je je).
To start, I made the map sketch in graphite. I did not focus on giving so many details, since most of the strokes are lost with the paint, that and since this is also an activity to de-stress, I try to simply draw without looking for so many complications (yes, I'm still learning hehe) .
La primera capa de pintura, para mÃ, es la más difÃcil, porque todo desastroso ja ja aparte que es en esa capa donde a veces determino la combinación de colores que voy a necesitar (en el caso de tener que hacer mezclas).
The first coat of paint, for me, is the most difficult, because everything is disastrous ha ha apart from the fact that it is on that layer that I sometimes determine the combination of colors that I am going to need (in the case of having to mix).
Ya para la segunda (y tercera capa, si es necesario), ya mi confianza como dibujante aparece y me siento más confiada para seguir el trabajo. Es es esta parte en donde verifico que los colores estén bien distribuidos y que no se note el fondo del papel.
Already for the second (and third layer, if necessary), my confidence as a cartoonist appears and I feel more confident to continue the work. It is in this part where I verify that the colors are well distributed and that the background of the paper is not noticeable.
Una vez satisfecha esa parte, paso a la utilización de colores de madera para definir sombras y de un marcador de punta fina, para remarcar todo el mapa. Esto es algo que disfruto bastante, ya que comienzo a pulir y darle forma a los pequeños detalles. El toque final que utilicé en el mapa pasado y que me gustó mucho, lo volvà a recrear y fueron las nubes, utilizando pequeños trozos de algodón que pegué con pegamento blanco.
Once that part is satisfied, I move on to using wood colors to define shadows and a fine-tipped marker to highlight the entire map. This is something I quite enjoy as I begin to polish and shape small details. The final touch that I used in the last map and that I liked a lot, I recreated it again and it was the clouds, using small pieces of cotton that I glued with white glue.
