I am still a little tiny bit hopeful. But, with game dev, and it being a month before release - its "finished", which means that there will be no fundamental changes.
Unless of course, it gets the No Man's Sky / Cyberpunk treatment where a wounded, mistreated child is nurtured over the years to become something more than what it was at birth.
I refuse to pre-order games and rarely will I even pay full price these days. Constant disappointments. I won't support it out of principal. I usually wait for a game to be 50% or more off just so I am not funding this bullshit mentality.
Any FromSoftware game I will pay full price the moment it is announced and that's the rare exception.
Anything from Larian Studios has my support as well.
I even waited until general release for BG3, even after thoroughly enjoying the Original Sin series. I think the only thing I will pre-ordering is th final instalment in the Final Fantasy Remake trilogy. I am too invested in that nostalgia, as the original FF7 on PS1 was one of the most formative games I ever played.
It is a known quantity in terms of story and "what to expect", but I might wait for it on PC this time around, as I am sure it will be very much delivered "PS5 Pro" optimised, and I don't want to buy another console ever again.
There's enough of a back catalogue in my steam library and on my physical shelves that I probably never need to buy a new game ever again, though. I am looking forward to diving back into the immersive sim genre at some point, I am hoping the System Shock 2 remaster goes on a deep discount so i can pick that up. But still, I have a CD copy of the original :D
