Playing Avakin Life is my passion, and having a family in it is a virtue. Since becoming a grandmother of two girls (Catalina and Mercy) my play style has changed, and I feel that taking on the role of an adult has taught me many things, such as really learning how to be an adult.
Taking responsibility for two girls is a big, big responsibility even in a video game, especially one like avakin. This world and the real world do not have a very exaggerated difference, actually, maybe it's hard to believe but they are quite similar.
In this world there is everything, and the most fun but at the same time contradictory thing is that you can have even more freedom than in real life, and I say contradictory because some take advantage of that to get their way. There are types of players, those who are conscious and those who are not. The conscious ones are those who know that the game is made up of all kinds of people, from 8 year olds to 50 year olds; and the ones who are not conscious are those who "despite knowing this, they don't care who they interact with or how they do it".
That is why being a grandmother or "mother" in a world full of all kinds of people, is a responsibility that you have to know how to handle, and it is not for everyone.
I have understood something. To be a parent is to heal ourselves, to understand and also to heal our own mind. When I talk to my granddaughters I feel that I see a mirror, do you understand me? When we talk somehow I identify myself with their words, and that happens because I was also a child, I already had their behaviors and even their mentalities, that's why I identify myself when they say and do things, but the idea is not only to reflect myself, the idea is to heal them as well as myself...
The goal is to take care of them from everything bad, because that is what a real parent would do. Being a parent in a virtual world does not mean that it is just a game and that there are no consequences, on the contrary, there are many. I have witnessed how these little girls are influenced by other virtual people, I have seen how they are victims of the damaged mentalities of unconscious gamers. Worst of all, children are sponges that absorb everything, but that's where I come in to protect them from that world, teaching them the right things and repairing their little heads.
I would like everyone to have a healthy mentality, and even the one we might think is the most stable, may not be. The consequences are great because if these girls learn something bad, they reflect that in the real world with their real parents, and that would be a big problem, not for me, but for them. For those reasons I am demanding even in a little game, because since I made the decision to be what I am, the effect of things will not only fall on me, but they will also bear the brunt of it, and who knows, maybe those after-effects will drag them down forever even when they stop playing avakin.
I have always thought that avakin is that gamer university that teaches you things, "the university of life", one where you interact with people without knowing them and in a virtual way, one where maybe it is a little more complicated because you do not see the facial expressions or the physical body of each one, but it is still a university where you learn many things that serve in the outside world.
