Another World, AKA Out of This World, Intro Running on the Nintendo Entertainment System

in Hive Gaming5 months ago

I remember when Out of this World (I am in the United States) came out. It had amazing aesthetics; it was simply amazing looking and unique. Then I got home with my rental copy and realized this was not my type of game. For those that were stuck in the 8-Bit Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) era it was probably a long time staring at this amazing looking game and longingly wanting to play it. Now you can, well, sort of.

Not Everyone’s Style of Game

A couple years later I would mature as a gamer after purchasing a 3DO and playing it there (the EB staff gave it to me for free as it was disc only). I sat down over the next several weeks and learned the controls and the nuances of the game. I can almost remember the day it clicked for me, and I was able to explore and reach new areas.

Not having the time limit of chores and activities to do on the weekend holding me back from playing the game helped me realize my mistakes.

There was no progression if you attacked Out of This World like a Super Mario or Sonic game. No, you had to methodically approach the challenges, think about what you wanted to do and figure out how to do it.

Run and gun led to frustration.

Will It Ever Be Ported to the NES?

Reading the comments and replies on vasyanchichek’s YouTube post the answer is no. It simply would not work apparently – I am just amazed they got this much working on the 8-Bit Nintendo.

Other comments there reveal this is using the MMC5 expansion chip and is based on the Sega Genesis version of the game. That is simply amazing to me.

There is a hint at gameplay to be developed but the full game is likely to not see release. Such a shame.

Check out vasyanchichek and show them some support. They are a prolific developer making interesting ports.

I loved this game, although it took me a while to adapt to its gameplay. Its artistic style is what caught my attention the first time I discovered it.

Seeing it on NES is pretty amazing. I love to see this kind of ports on older consoles.

I am right there with you, the graphics stood out to me and got me to rent it, just took me another platform and actually owning it to realize the beauty of this one.

I hope this game is one of those games that takes the gamers out of this world ?

😂 Awesome pun there!
