Konami has taken the official stance a few times over the years that they are fine with fans using their past titles as long as there is no money charged for them. I wish more companies were like Konami.
I personally know that Konami is open to working with outside developers to make officially licensed releases as well.
I wonder how many other companies are like them but no one asks. No one reaches out. I approach these things as a reporter, I am the type that if I hear a company did something, I will reach out to them and get an official response on the matter. That is how I know how Konami works. Same for Warner Bros, Nintendo, Square Enix, etc.
These ports to other systems are always on my radar as I love seeing how they compare to what we got officially. Will there be any flicker when enemies are added? How will the audio compare? It is like getting a peek at an alternate universe.
I love how game fans are circumventing stupid copyright laws to make the hobby more accessible. Intellectual property... isn't.
