Fast & Furious Arcade Edition Speeds onto PlayStation Xbox Nintendo Switch

Arcade style action racing fun is here with Fast & Furious Arcade Edition, available for all current generation consoles. What is interesting about this release is there are licensed cars involved – something car manufacturers have been less than interested in involving their vehicles with over the years. I have no idea why they would be against fans of their cars enjoying themselves in wild over the top gaming action but for the most part, they have not. Seems they are coming around.

Their Idea of a Supercar and Mine Differ, A LOT

There are eight “supercars” available in Fast & Furious Arcade Edition. Dodge Charger, Corvette Z06, Shelby GT500 KR, Ford GT… and a Bronco DR and Jeep Wrangler? I am not sure on those last two myself. Maybe the definition of “supercar” changed in the last week or so and I am just out of touch.

The environments feature destructible elements in iconic cities and locations such as Hong Kong, Swiss Alps and more. Drifting, nitro boosts and more are all at your disposal, if you have the skills or powerups to enable them.

Arcade Racing vs Simulation Racing

When the first Fast & Furious came out, I was a fan, then the second came out and I was like, okay, I do not remember anything after that. I remember watching a few here and there but it would be hard pressed to detail the storylines presented.

Obviously, the movie franchise was not set on realism being their number one priority. That is why I feel arcade style racing games for this franchise are better. Simulation would just not work with the over-the-top jumps, turbos, literally flying car action this franchise is known for.

Customization is little sparse, according to the press release, you are limited to only changing the color scheme of your vehicles paint job. Not a lot of customization there.

Much like other arcade racing games (Split/Second, Burnout Paradise, etc) there are short cuts and over the top jumps and the occasional in level sections that can be destroyed, if for no other reason than “just for kicks”.

If you are a fan of the old Midway arcade racing games like the Rush franchise then you will want to check out Fast & Furious Arcade Edition.

Grab Fast & Furious Arcade Edition on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, or Xbox Series X/S. Price will vary depending on region.
