Putting the demo for Terrifier ARTCade available on Steam through its paces.
Unfortunately, this is not what I had hoped it would be. The gore doesn't bother me, I figure that will be accepted like Postal was in the 90s when some civil unrest was going on with postal workers around that time. It is just part of the franchise.
No, what bothers me is the feel of the fighting. I have mentioned this nearly every time I cover a brawler because it means so much to me. There is no "oomph" to the punches. This is handled with a few frames of animation from the enemy being punched, it gives the visual cue that something is going on, your attacks are landing.
That is not really present in Terrifier ARTCade. If you are a fan of the movie franchise then you will probably get a lot of fun out fo this game. For me, I will fall back to classics like Final Fight, TMNT The Arcade Game (and the myriad of sequels that Konami did) and others.
I just wish Terrifier had gotten this part right.
