The only R-Type I remember playing is Super R-Type on the SNES. I guess it was partially a port of R-Type II with some original levels. I loved it despite some issues with slow down.
That was a good one. It was the first time I ever played an R-Type game at home, I did play the original a few times in arcades here and there as I was waiting for Strider to open up (Strider was a 50 cent game, R-Type, being a little older was only a quarter per play at that arcade).
