The Super Nintendo game was incredibly fun. It was a great platformer and I seem to remember it had different interesting mechanics thanks to the Inspector tools. Too bad this new game is aiming to be the typical multiplayer game that very possibly very few people will play.
I would love to see an open world, even if limited to levels with an overarching world, to run around in. Something akin to the source material, running around solving crimes, finding clues, etc.
Dick Tracy on the Nintendo NES had a similar layout to what I am talking about - though the execution sucked there. Still, it gave us a chance to feel like we were solving the crimes using clues we found in the levels.
Something like that with Inspector Gadget, adding in figuring out what powerups to use (even if they put some behind walls that we have to work around to "earn" using them).
So much potential for this license and it is being wasted in a Mario Party style format.
