When you think of mashup games, you probably think of things like Super Smash Bros or similar. Personally, I never thought about how to mash up a Third Person game like Resident Evil with Doom, a First Person Shooter yet here we are with Resident Doom. My next question is, why does this work so well?

The Crossover We Didn’t Know We Needed
In the video by YouTube creators, ThatNukemGuy and YoshiChief, a collaborative effort, shows off the police station area from Resident Evil 2 but it is in the Doom engine. At first it was jarring and I was caught off guard. Then, as I watched, it just clicked and worked so well.
Sure, dimensions of objects may be off a bit, items may not be perfectly placed, etc, that is just the nature of something like this. Similar problems would arise if the mashup went the other way – Doom in the Resident Evil 2 engine.
Go To Hell In Raccoon City
You can grab the Resident Doom mod on ModDB for free. I believe you will need ZDoom to play as vanilla Doom does not offer looking up and down, something that happens from time to time in the video above.
The ModDB page does not specify requirements.
I am a huge fan of both Resident Evil and Doom, so this is something I do plan on figuring out how to get running. I have had bad luck with mods and such in the past, so I often shy away from trying them myself.
What other games would you like to see in a mashup with Doom, or Doom in a mashup with them? I would love to see more 2D/2.5D Doom games myself. I remember seeing one back in late 99 or so and thought it was pretty cool but I cannot find it anymore. That genre is just not popular with Doom for some reason – No idea why, to me it would be like Contra goes to Hell.
I don't think it's attracting players; it looks like a game developed by young children 😂
It is definitely rough looking but that can be attributed to the version of Doom being used. It is not vanilla Doom but it is also not one of the source/HD/updated versions either. I read on the ModDB page that this is apparently their first attempt at making a level but they recognize they have a ways to go to get better.
It's a failed project

When different types of games are interesting, I try to play them.
