Gaming is constantly moving forward. From more engrossing storylines and game mechanics to graphics, gaming is an evolutionary process. Thankfully, if you are a PC gamer then you can keep some of those classic games up to date thanks to other fans. One such instance is Elder Scrolls Skyrim by Bethesda.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

You may have been playing Elder Scrolls Skyrim all these years and thinking, it looks awesome to me. Great, you are not the person this article is for, though you at least need to check out the visuals here.

Skyrim is a game that was released in late 2011 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows computers. Sure, Bethesda has released a “remastered” version called Special Edition in 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows.

Check out the video below to get an idea of just how much Tamrielic Textures changes things.

Skyrim, a grand place to book your next vacation

Tamrielic Textures gives fans three options for level of detail improvement. This is awesome because some of us may not be able to run, say, 4K but we can easily run 1k or 2k. I am glad the modders realize not everyone is running a $4,000 gaming computer.

Some of the textures are in 8k quality. Goodness gracious folks.

According to the Dark Side of Gaming, Tamrielic Textures pack is compatible with a few other popular modding techniques. That means incompatibilities should be a non-issue for most gamers moving over to this mod.

Interestingly, the scope of this mod pack will eventually expand beyond just foliage and landscapes. We will see in future updates new textures for buildings, caves, dungeons, and even the cities themselves. That is awesome to know as we could potentially see a much smoother transition within the game.

those graphics are outstanding. I am one of those peeps that are very unlikely to purchase a machine that is capable of running that though :)

I am right there with you. I just cannot bring myself to spend that much on a computer. Maybe in 10 years I will be able to play this mod at 60 frames per second. Lol. Still beautiful and a good reason to support PC gaming.

The remastered edition is named special edition. The legendary edition is the old one with all the Dlcs !

Thanks for the correction. I fixed it in the article.

Damn! this looks amazing.

Doesn't it though? I mean, sheesh, some of those graphics are just mindblowing and to think people are continually improving this stuff just for fun.

It looks spectacular, you can make a wallpaper with any frame
